Maxwell Pundit (aka the Blog Heisman) Week 13
We are coming down the final stretch now. After taking a week off for Thanksgiving we continue with our weekly voting on Maxwell Pundit (put together by ND blog RakesofMallow). Here are my 5 choices for the MVP from week 13. And yeah there are some changes in the top-3 from my vote in week 11:
Troy Smith, QB, Ohio State: I wrote two weeks earlier if Troy beats Wolverines this award will belong to him. Not much else to say at this point.
Mike Hart, RB, Michigan: Hart did everything he could rushing for almost 150 yards and 3 TDs (averaging over 6 yards per carry) in the biggest game of this football season. It wasn't enough. But I think he made a pretty effective case of being the second best college football players in the country.
Ian Johnson, RB, Boise State: Remember this kid went out against San Jose State after he was hospitalized with a collapsed lung he suffered sometime during the game. His status for BSU's last game against Utah State was up in the air. He sat out that game but came back this past weekend to rush 147 yards and 3 TDs in Broncos destruction of Nevada. I am excited to see this kid in a BCS bowl game. Great stuff.
Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas:I believe this is the first time we are including a name on this list following his team's loss. But if you caught one Arkansas game this season it'd be hard to argue against the assertion that he is one of the most electrifying offensive weapon in the country.
Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii: 51 TDs, 9 ints, 4589 yards, and a 72 percent completion rate. Are you kidding me? And before you dismiss these numbers as inflated stats. from a mid-major conference consider this - he just finished lighting up a Big-10 team for 434 yards and 3 TDs. So he has been doing this against all kinds of competition including throwing for over 350 yards against a stingy Crimson Tide defense in Alabama. He belongs here.
As always if there are others who are worthy of top-5 mention, please let me know in this thread.
GO BRUINS.
