Postgame analysis thread...
First off, I'm sure Nestor, McKloskey, and Ajax will handle the business tomorrow, but I wanted to open up a diary tonight, while the win is fresh in our minds.
The Good: Southpaw Jesus is the real deal. Great mobility, confidence in the pocket, and a rocket arm. A few throws were high, which you expect with an excited starter, but all in all, the guy looks like a first class stud. I couldn't be more thrilled.
The Bad: The playcalling still bothers me. The running game suffered because Karl and Svoboda failed to challenge downfield. The bootlegs are great, the intermediate routes are solid, but the running game can't develop without stretching the safties.
Defense...B-minus: We continue to fail wrapping up. As with many Bruin teams, it seems like we're on our heels, waiting for offensive players to fall into us, instead of attacking the ball. The defense looked better, but I'm still concerned. Bottom Line...We won. I'd love to read your thoughts on the game, but all in all, I'd give the Bruins a solid B+.

My two cents...............
The offensive line was excellent in pass protection and like you said "SPJ" looked awesome (over 300 yards). Wait till he gets more game experience. I think stretching the field comes into the game plan a little later down the road when he has some more game experience under his belt.
For a first game with several new defensive people, I thought we did alright and showed some promise. A few plays got away from us but not all of them like last year.
This next week is a key practice week to work out the problems, take it out on Rice and see how much we've improved.
For a first game I agree with the B+.

My only concerns...
Other than that, my beliefs are stated above. Overall, I'm a happy Bruin.

Tackling
Of all of the offensive guys to suck, I'm glad it was Taylor, only because I'm pretty sure he'll be better the rest of the season. Just a little rusty.

First game
I am very happy with this, they can work on some things with Rice, keep everyone healthy and build confidence.
A great way to start a (hopefully)very successful season.

Random thoughts
- SPJ was just terrific. And not just for the spot on passing. He showed a lot of poise, moved well, and didn't take a sack as far as I can tell. He wasn't hurried, and just got it done. And don't tell me that they were just easy passes; Pat came in at the end to remind us what it's like to miss one of those. Also, I, for one, am not too concerned with the play calling just yet, I expect we'll see more down field plays installed over the next couple games.
- The defense looked good. The tackling was much improved. Giving up just 112 on the ground is fine with me. Obviously, Al Verner played incredibily well. That said, Keyes and Horton shouldn't be our leading tacklers week in and out.
- Bell looked like he was trying to run himself off the depth chart. The o-line wasn't doing him any favors, but that was some of the least dynamic running I've seen in a while. I suspect we will see more and more of Moline, who didn't produce much more, but looked better to me.
- Marcedes who? Okay, let's not get crazy. But, Paulsen was impressive, and Moya made some nice plays. I feel like I can change my view of our TE's from "uncertain" to "solid".
- How many points do you think we'd have if we just ran screen plays? Didn't stop one as far as I recall.
GO BRUINS.
