'Pathetic': UCLA's Beat Reporter Slams Dorrell

Kevin Pearson from the Press Enterprise brings down the hammer on Karl Dorrell:

This was pathetic.

There are no other words to describe the way the UCLA Bruins played in Saturday's 29-19 loss to Washington at Husky Stadium, other than to say that they may have reached a new low.

UCLA did everything but curl up into the fetal position in the second half of Washington's comeback from being down 16-0 early in the game. The Bruins, the team that lived a year ago on thrilling comebacks, instead let Washington look like the team they once were.

UCLA's play-calling was awful. After being awful against Rice, the Bruins vowed to be better, but came nowhere close. When it came to the red zone, they looked downright pathetic.

UCLA ran 10 plays inside Washington's 10-yard line and threw the ball into the end zone once.

Once.

It was either a complete lack of intelligence in play-calling or a lack of confidence in their ability to throw against the Pac-10's worst secondary. Either way, it was apparent early on that a fade into the corner of the end zone was something that the Bruins must have lacked in their playbook.

"We were trying to call good plays," UCLA coach Karl Dorrell said.

Good plays work. These didn't. Now that is telling it like it is.  And Pearson ends with this: If the Bruins want to be taken seriously -- and it's debatable at this point if they deserve to be -- things need to change. Until then, they will remain the same UCLA they have always been. Read the whole article here. It is nice to see not all the beat reporters are buying the bullshit from Dorrell and his clueless staff.

Guerrero?
Maybe it's Guerrero that should go?  I don't think someone competent in Guerrero's position would tolerate someone incompetent in Dorrell's position.

Starting to the wonder the same thing
I am not getting the DG hype any more either. Can we really trust him?

DG
DG, as the AD, has no choice but to publicly express faith in Dorrell.  If he doesn't, then it's a slippery slope with recruits and current players.  Also, this web site did a great job outlining how DG was not responsible for hiring Dorrell.  His major contributions have been Howland and the baseball coach who has turned things around.

You sure you want to get rid of Guerrero?

No not yet
I want to see how he handles this KD situation.

But right now I am starting to have my doubts about DG.
