BCS Championship Game Thread
So the National Championship game is on tonight. And I am sure many of us will be watching it. I don't care much for either team. But I guess I will root for OH-IO since a good buddy of mine (a huge fan of the Sweatervest) has promised me a six pack of Magic Hat if I root for the team in red. Okay, fine. Whatever for free beer. Go Buckeyes.
The Bruins have taken on both of these programs in football, and have scoreboard on both from the last time we took them on. (Yeah, we are such a basketball school). Last time the Bruins took on one of these was two weeks after 9-11, when Foster and company beat the Buckeyes at the Rose Bowl:

And, in case you are wondering when was the last time the Bruins took on the Gators in football, it was 1987, when Aikman and crew beat Florida in the Aloha Bowl (20-17).
The kick off is set for 8:00 pm EST.
BTW, on a football note, per reports on local radio, Dorrell is officially going to scapegoat his OC - Jim Svoboda - this week by firing him, and apparently will take over play calling duties himself. This, of course, will bring nothing new, considering Svoboda was all but a lame duck since the Cal game. And UCLA's offense was still dogsh!t even after Dorrell took over the O starting with the Cal game. Anyways. This means KD will have no one else to scapegoat next season.
If you have thoughts on Svoboda or if you are watching the game and want to share your thoughts, impressions on the game or voice what it feels like to watch a team led by real head football coaches, then fire away.
This is your BCS Championship game thread.
GO BRUINS.

I vote for fired

Does that mean we have one less coach?
I really would like to see a great OC. And, if Swoboda is really fired, we will need a QB coach. BO deserves the best.
Also, he needs a fire breathing coach to balance his stoic personality. We really missed Eric Bienemy (sp?).
Strong people surround themselves with strong people -- people smarter and better than them.
I think KD was afraid of Ken Norton Jr.s strength and charisma.
If DG is going to let him come back, he should at least surround him with some talent.
sjh
PS. Big runback. I can't care about either of these teams.

WTF does he have to do w/ CFB?

If KD takes the playcalling himself...
I have to say that I was not complaining about the playcalling in the Nut Bowl. Not like before. The biggest problem was he didn't have his kids ready mentally in the 2nd half, and he didn't have the right QB in to make the plays. 4 or so mistakes led to 21 pts and the game for Florida St. The illegal motion on 4th down, then the punt block, then the TD where our DB was on the ground (they never showed a replay to see if it was pass interference on Florida St. and I was too disgusted to find out on my own), the touch out of bounds, and the interception. Those were all Head Coach mistakes, not OC mistakes.
I just want to see KD put it all out there with no one to hide behind. This is his team now. His recruits, his coaches, his playbook. No excuses.

The chickenshit FG call
He called plays PC could not execute. Another way of saying the same thing is that he had the wrong QB on the field.
And, we stopped running when we were running right through them.
You are right. He will be backed into a corner. He will have to take responsibility for his own failures. If the offense sputters, it's on him.

Not just that FG call

WOW
And Nestor is right, the plays preceding the 4th down is where he blew it. He can learn, as he had towards the end of the season by going after teams right after demoralizing plays. And he has picked up his play calling in some games. But too many bonehead calls produced very little offense in the end. Not sure if he can improve in the off season enough to win the games he will need to to win an NFL job, or possibly keep his job. Big mistake.

Replacement Coaches Being Hired
Interesting how many have been hired or whose names are in play.
We have good taste and judgment.

well
and to think UCLA could have gone after Urban Meyer instead of a loser like Dorrell when they fired Toledo. And it could have gotten Meyer for a price (at that time out of BGSU) at the same rate of Dorrell.

Who is the loved one of Troy Smith's
I have the sweatervest but that punk U Meyer lifting that trophy makes my vomit into my mouth. And that stupid Gator Chomp holding two titles is worse.

Yawn
My illuminating observations:
- Troy Smith has re-defined the Heisman jinx.
- Got to be the worst performance by a team since the second half of the UCLA-Washington game.
- Great job by the SweaterVest guy. Here's his half-time speech: "Well, everything we've tried hasn't worked. Let's do the same thing in the second half, and maybe it will work this time."
