Spare Us Going To 'The Rose Bowl' Nonsense
So as expected the Bruin defense dominates over a hapless Ducks team that got exposed as one trick pony without all world Dennis Dixon. In Dorrell's last game at the Rose Bowl we get what else, fireworks from our FG unit!

Yeap, you are looking right at the latest Dorrellian offensive weapon Kai Fortbath, who was the MVP of yet another ugly, unwatchable Dorrellain victory. Here is the box score if actually want to check out our "stats."
Just like the wins against a Cal team with one legged Nate Longshore was meaningless, today's "win" against a mediocre Ducks team in the grand scheme of things will mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Oh and please spare us the UCLA to Rose Bowl BS. Even if the Bruins win against bunch of over-rated TrOJies and back into the Rose Bowl thanks to the Choke Devils, it will not hide the fact that we are coached by a Doofus, a joke of an offensive idiot, whose team looks impotent no mattter what QB is leading the offense.
All we need to do right now is buckle up and get through this coming week during which we are going to be barraged with BS about how an incompetent football coach has his back against the wall, and how he is going to fight for his job against our rivals from cross town.
I will make this clear now. I don't care about beating the TrOJies next Saturday. That game means nothing to me. And I don't care about getting to the Rose Bowl thanks to the mediocre chokers from rest of the conference.
All I care about at this point is to make sure we let the world know we want Karl Dorrell gone from Westwood next week. We have had enough of this Doofus sucking all the joy out of caring for UCLA football. So please spare us all the Rose Bowl BS. If you actually care about the long term health of our alma mater's football program you wouldn't fall for that kind of BS.
Thread it up in our post game thread.
GO BRUINS.

As much I want Dorrell gone, this game should always mean something to students and alumni. I'd hate to think your feelings for Dorrell would affect how you feel the team does, though that's how I read this comment. I'm also assuming you watched us play piss-poor today based on this vitrol (ABC didn't show the game in Boston), but I'd reconsider. Beating SC and Dorrell moving on should be two different things. If not, don't blame the team or even Sleeping Beauty - blame Guerrero.
GO BRUINS.

I went to the bar
And I am not going to reconsider what I wrote. I don't give a sh!t how we do against SuC. And I don't think I have anything to prove to anyone here on my hatred for the SCums.
The long term health of our football program is lot more important than getting a cheap win over some overrated TrOJie team.
I want this Doofus gone. That is the bottom line and I am going to make sure we hit the point that we expect this loser to get the f*ck out of Westwood even if pull out a win next weekend in a meaningless game.
And yes its the Doofus who has made next weekend's game meaningless, not us.
He killed UCLA football, not us.

Nestor, you have to face the music
If Dixon had not gone down last week, UCLA would have stood no chance today, but as KD's luck would have it, he did go down and the remaining Oregon offense was foul and pathetic. You don't think Oregon with Dixon would have scored more than 16 points?
I repeat, cockroaches and rats are easier to eliminate than Doofus.

If his supporters want to fight to keep him ...
And they should know we are capable of doing just that.

Yeap
And even if we beat the SCums next Saturday (which we just may given the fact we are playing an over-rated team), DG needs to fire the Doofus next week.
I know we have made the points why Doofus is a complete joke for last few years, but we will need to turn the heat up even more this coming week.
We are not going to let him off the hook just because we are heading into "Beat SC" week.

justsc
justsc will get at least 20 points.
I don't think it's particularly likely that the Bruins will win.
That makes us 6-6, and that should be enough to convince DG to put an end to the experiment.
But we're bowl eligible! Make your reservations in Visalia or maybe even Indio.

I agree w/ you, but also disagree... re. next week
Even IF we do beat $C next week, I don't think the argument can be made that Dorrell can be kept. So what if we make it to the Rose Bowl... if we happen to get there and lose (or even get there and win, I would argue), this is all a moot point...
getting into the Rose Bowl with 7-5 record? In any other year, this never happens... This is a unique season proving one of two things about the Pac-10, which is the reason why no one takes our conference seriously, esp. on the east coast: 1) the conference is laden with CHOKERS, and 2) there's an awful lot of parity here... truly on any given Saturday, ANYONE in this conference can beat anyone... Stanford defeating SC at the Coliseum proves that. The Bruins beating Oregon and Cal and losing to Wazzu and AZ in the same season is another...
The case can still be made that Dorrell can't stay whether or not we beat SC next week... The numbers tell the story, the HISTORY of the last five years tells the same story, as does this horribly fluctuating season we've all just suffered through... Guerrero and the Administration would also have to admit at this point next week that this is an aberrant season at best... C'mon, 7-5 (6-3) getting us a Pac-10 crown??... that hasn't happened in decades...
I disagree with you in that next week is not big and that it doesn't matter. Your saying that you could care less is akin to saying you want us to lose... That can't be.
As much as I want Dorrell to go, we can't get thumped by these guys again, even though we did win last year. This type of victory over those a**holes cross town is the sort of victory that does wonders for the program, for the spirit of the rivalry... it should mean very little for Dorrell's survival. You already have my backing and hundreds (thousands?) of others determined to pressure DG and the new ucla administration that changes in the football program are REQUIRED. (i.e. new coach, and an entirely NEW philosophy)
We can beat SC, go to the Rose Bowl and still insist on such changes. Granted, the argument in Dorrell's favor would strengthen if we happen to beat the trOJans next Saturday, but EVERYONE at that point will have to admit that our advancement to the Rose Bowl has to do with other forces and very little to do with our head coach, his philosophy or his abilities. Anyone can argue in Dorrell's favor till their blue in the face, the fact is that he has been MEDIOCRE, and mediocrity NEVER should guarantee longevity in ANY job, least of all head coach for the UCLA football Bruins.
We've come to a point, as alums, as students, as supporters, that we EXPECT a top notch (top 5?) program year in and year out.... We're not settling any longer. Whether we end up 6-6, 7-5 or even 8-5, this season was HORRENDOUS and changes need to be made.
That being said, let's kick the crap out of the TrOJans again, this time in their house... let Dorrell have his final win as a Bruin coach, in the best of fashion, but let such a victory be a hallmark moment, indicating that a new chapter in ucla football history is here...
A second consecutive victory over SC would cause them to panic yet again, and worry about the state of their program... ours would be an indication that UCLA football, can't be kicked around for long, even with a doofus-of-a-coach.
BEAT SC!!! Go Bruins!

Actually this may have happened in 2000
I believe Ty Willingham took Stanfurd to the 2000 Rose Bowl (Fall 1999 season) after a fairly mediocre season.

Beating 'SC and going to Rose Bowl doesn't matter?
I think some of you here are so jaded that you can't enjoy the here and now. Stop worrying about the future - something that we don't control - you'll never enjoy the present.
I went to all the home games this weekend and UCLA went 3-0: Women's Soccer, Basketball, and Football. So I'm a happy Bruin. If we beat 'SC next week I'll be even happier. With 6 wins we are now bowl eligible. :-)

The words "bowl eligible"
This ridiculous scenario is set up in such a way where we could conceivably gain bare minimum bowl eligibility one week, and secure a spot in a BCS BOWL the very week after that. If that confluence of events happens every single year from here on out, then fine, let's keep KD. If not, then he needs to be fired, regardless of what happens the rest of the season, because even 7-5 is completely unacceptable, especially given the way we lost those games and who we lost them to.

Boy, have you been trained to SETTLE or what?
Under Doufus' leadership, we have endured humiliating losses to Utah, Notre Dame, Wazu, and Arizona. We are a laughing stock!
If getting into the Rose Bowl by default is okay to you, when our team should have been able to be part of the BCS conversation, then you have been drinking the Dorrellian Koolaid and have become content to settle.
But that's not the standard I think UCLA should represent.
Go Bruins; Dump Dorrell.

One week from now, Guerrero should quote
"If you lose a fairly large number of games by a significant margin and you have reasonably good players, which I think we have, then that means there may be some systematic issues, some underlying issues,"

I think the problem here
It's hard to believe anyone would sign up for even one more game of this crap. If the Dorrellistas were satisfied by what they saw take place on the field today (I'm pretty sure it wasn't even Football), then they deserve this sinking ship and the many more losses that will come with it.
If KD is around next year, I promise that I will not be, and from the looks of it, neither will thousands of disenchanted Bruin fans. Just because we are UCLA doesn't mean that there is a floor on how low the program can sink or how low the attendance numbers can go. Just something for DG to think about.

While I understand N's feelings about next week's game, and if given the clear choice of beating $C or being rid of KD, KD would be printing his resume about now, I just can't not care about the result of that game.

Knowing his luck, it would not surprise me to see him back in and actually win the damn Rose Bowl game, considering the Big 10 is really not impressive on offense...

Dilettantes
Like lizards and other scaly reptiles they sun themselves at the Rose bowl; they consume vast quantities of Pabst Blue Ribbon, and think sixteen-zip is just dandy over a team sans a potential Heisman awardee who was the glue, the heart and soul of a team that almost made it to #1 in the land.
They sit there puking and mewling about what a shame it would be to let that fine young man go who has brought them this brief moment in the warm, late-November sun.
They are perfectly happy with three field goals from turnovers and a gimme touchdown.
"But he's such a fine young man, now that he doesn't stuff that clipboard down his crotch anymore.."
..and so it goes.

Dorrellistas care about what goes on outside of the stadium. We care about what goes on within it. What does our administration care about? We will find out in a week.

Actually
TrOJan offense is not all that. Their QB is not very mobile (not very smart). Their RBs do not scare me. And they have sick talent at receivers, but none of them are invincible.
Our defense is perfectly capable of hitting them in the chin, get their predictable pro-set O all rattled. And I can see us scoring some opportune points on offense.
This is the kind of game losers Lavin and Duhrell pull out over teams that have more talent, but eminently beatable.
So I see us being those losers. What I want to make sure that even if we beat those SCums, Duhrell is still let go next week.
