Several sources have told me that Karl Dorrell will be coaching his last game in Westwood this weekend.

Simers yesterday followed up by giving us the gift of Pom Pom's kiss of death.

And then Lee Jenkins from SI.com (the former UCLA beat reporter for the OC Register) followed up with what read like an obituary of Dorrell's tenure at at UCLA.

Now here is the latest chaser from Tracy Pierson on Bruins Report Online (BRO). Again, I will only put up the screen shot of the thread of his post entitled, "Dorrell's status":

Obviously I can't post Tracy's post or any of the subsequent ones. But you can read the titles of the post and draw your own conclusions. I have been a subscription based member of BRO for a long enough time to know that Pierson will not just go out on a limb and stick his neck out. He has good info.

But it is way too early to breathe a sigh of relief. Our position remains the same, no matter what happens on Saturday, Dorrell needs to go. Guerrero needs to fire Dorrell even if he beats Southern Cal in what should be his last regular season game as the head coach of UCLA football.

Bruins in Denver, Co

I'm new to the Denver area. Does anybody know where alumni are gathering to watch Saturday's game?

Welcome to Denver

Unfortunately, the local alumni chapter folded a couple years ago. I was a member, but never really heard why. So there is no official alumni party to watch the game. I don't know if we'll get the game on TV here. If not, there are some of us Bruins in the Highlands Ranch and Castle Pines areas, so we may try to find some place down south. I'll reply here if we are going some place, so please join us.

Trying not to get excited

I just want to wait until it is done officially before getting too excited, though this definitely seems like good news. Let's root for KD to go out with a victory over what many people on AM sports talk radio are calling "the best team in the country" right now. GO BRUINS

I am told by some that Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and A.D. Gerald Myers don't get along, but Leach has denied this to me. Regardless, rumblings persist that Leach may be a guy at UCLA if that job opens.

If a change is made at Texas Tech, look for Arizona offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes to be a top target. He worked in Lubbock for Leach and his father, Spike, is a west Texas legend who still holds influence at Tech.

This is a good angle

Not a bad way to do it--tell the team, this is it guys, I'm done, this is my last rivalry game. So let's go out and win like we did last year.

Wish fans could get a guarantee from him before the game, but it would be a good way for Guerrero and Dorrell to do it.

N, Id There A Plan For Monday?

Assuming that all goes as scheduled and we get the announcement we have been waiting for by Monday, how can we best commenorate the event? Is it possible to have a party in cyber space?

We don't have any plan in place ...

I will tell you right now. I am not going to "celebrate" the firing of Dorrell. Will I be happy, relieved ... sure. But I am not going to celebrate.

But before we even get there we need to keep our focus on finishing this, and then pivot to the coaching search process, with appropriate and worthy tone.

Needs to be done...but it ain't like Dorrell is a bad guy, and, afterall, he did his time as a receiver for the Bruin faithful.

But I will be celebrating the firing of the man who destroyed my (and my 13 year old's)enjoyment of Bruin football. Win or lose, we attended or watched every game. In the past couple of years it has been unbearable to watch, win or lose. As bad as the Notre Dame debacle was (and it truly waso--either year), the Oregon win was not much better.

Streeter is back

Kurt Streeter has found the issue which will get him noticed: The unbearable racism plaguing Westwood. It's all you redneck alum's who are to blame for Karl's troubles. I can't believe that they won't be burning crosses at the bonfire tonight. I understand that his job is to get himself noticed (I never heard of him until his race column) I just wish he didn't throw my school under the bus for his own glory.

One thing Kurt; how many black head coaches have their been at USC?
