New Housegate evidence from Yahoo! investigation
Surprised that I haven't seen anything about this on BN yet this morning, but it is something that needs to be looked at. The boys over at Yahoo, who have absolutely been on top of the shady situation involving Bush and his agent friends and done a fantastic job with it (something we couldn't count on the SC Times to do), come with some new information this morning -- and characterizing it as explosive would be a gross understatement.

Correct
It will come down to should have known. Hence there will be some speculation involved. Not a done deal yet, but the SUCsters should be concerned.

of course something will happen
SUC may or may not get punished prospectively, but they most certainly will have to forfeit games and in 04 and 05

ReggieGate
If you'll recall, the tapes at issue reportedly contained the following:
Multiple sources told Yahoo! Sports that Lake made the tapes in late 2005 to protect his financial investment if Bush backed out of their alleged agreement. New Era's goal of landing Bush as a client officially failed when Bush signed to be represented by agent Joel Segal and marketing agent Mike Ornstein in January of 2006.
Apparently, Reggie didn't pay Lake "his money", and is selfish enough to sell Southern Cal down the river rather than settle before the evidence got to the NCAA.
And all this, just to have a short run with Ornstein, who Bush fired\ other day (and who, ironically, just signed up Matt Leinart, aka, Mr. Deadbeat Dad).
Finally, it's really funny to me that some Trojies are still clinging to the notion that USC didn't have any knowledge of this. It's already been reported that the Animal Lover, er, Todd McNair, knew something about the arrangement. And Southern Cal already has an illustrious history of letting only the best character guys run around with the team, from double murderers dropping by practices to dangerous rap moguls dropping by games.
Whether or not the NCAA will have the will to connect the rather obvious dots may be another thing, but it will be fun to see what happens now that good 'ole Reggie has decided to sell out his "Trojan Family" rather than pay out a few hundred G's of his endorsement money.

Just noticed little this gem from the Yahoo story
"USC general counsel Todd Dickey declined to comment, saying it is strict policy not to say anything about ongoing investigations.
But Dickey said USC was not allowed to sit in on the interview with Lake despite asking to take part. The school has participated in previous interviews regarding this case.
'USC was not permitted to participate in the Lloyd Lake interview,' Dickey said via email. 'We have repeatedly requested that USC be allowed to participate in every interview and every aspect of this investigation.'"
Pardon me, Mr. Dickey, but are you just arrogant, just stupid or both? Why on earth should you get to sit in on an interview with the key witness on the other side, when that key witness is suing your guy? The Yahoo article said that Lake's lawyer was a concerned that what he said might get back to bu$h's lawyers. Ya think?
But Mr. Dickey sounds so surprised and put off by the fact that he was kept out of the meeting. How's this, Mr. Dickey. How about letting me or one of my brothers or sisters at the BN sit in on your meetings. Or let us go through your files on bu$h before they get shredded (assuming they haven't already been). Or let us sit in on the meetings where the guys get told just how they get paid, and how to hide their money, etc. Or maybe we can sit in the spin room while the spin meisters figure out how to make up into down and black into white.
Mr. Dickey, eventually you will wish you hadn't sold out to the Dark Side. We would welcome you back to the real world, and will not even ask you to violate the attorney-client privilege and tell all you know. But don't sound so teary and petulant about not being allowed to peek into your adversary's file. Frankly, you sound a little like Bill and Ted when you do.

Does anyone else remember Baron Davis'
and all the investigation they did about nothing, but smeared BDs name.
Now, with Reggie Bush, a real paid player at USC, not a word, not a single piece of investigative journalism.
What a joke.

Most Hypocritical NCAA Move EVER?
The NCAA investigates and Edwards is suspended for a game.
Jarrett and Bushgate -- no penalties.
Hard to respect the NCAA.
Or the fishwrap that doesn't dig into the hypocrisy and demand justice.
