Walker Might Not Even Get An Interview 4 UDub DC
Bumped. From the diaries. GO BRUINS. -N
Looks like another hyped up Walker story might be going down in flames.
Remember how on Monday Dohn reported how Washington was going to make an `intense' push for Walker and how was TY's top choice?
Guess what. According to a Perlemen post excerpted at DumpDorrell.com, UDub may not even give Walker an interview who is not among first in line for that job:
Although UCLA interim head coach DeWayne Walker has been rumored as a replacement defensive coordinator for the University of Washington after the firing of Kent Baer on Monday, the Seattle Times suggested that former Washington defensive coordinator Chris Tormey (now linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator), Oregon State assistant Jay Locey or former USC defensive line coach and former Mississippi head coach Ed Orgeron could be first in line for that job.For some reason I cannot find the Perelemen post on What's Bruin (did he pull it after getting linked up on DD?) But I did find this from the Seattle Times, which mentions a list of candidates for the UDub DC position, which doesn't include Walker:
Another name mentioned was Oregon State assistant head coach Jay Locey, who handles running backs and tight ends for the Beavers but was previously a defensive coordinator and head coach at Linfield.
Many Huskies fans are hoping the school might be able to entice former Mississippi coach Ed Orgeron. But Orgeron, also a former assistant at USC, is said to have numerous college offers and also may consider the NFL.
So the question is: should we really believe Walker is TY's "top choice" at UDub, given how Dohn's previous report on Walker being a "candidate" for WSU kind of turned out to be dud, given he didn't even get an interview?Methinks someone is blowing a whole lot of hot air in favor of DeWayne Walker. Just shameful.
[Update - bluestreet]Watch Dohn backpeddle like crazy!!
Sources told me Washington has Walker as its first choice, which I reported in the paper earlier this week, but that situation may not be great for him. Coach Tyrone Willingham is on the hot seat there, and could be fired with a poor 2008 season. But I am told Walker would be a hot choice for several more established programs, if he is not the head coach at UCLA and decides to leave the school. However, sources continue to say Walker's first choice is to remain at UCLA. Whatever you say Doh!

Yep
Good thing Dohn doesn't print rumors. It's just the fact, ma'am....
Believe Dohn?
His credibility was flushed, long ago. He's now a nasty stain on the porcelain bowl -- a stain that will be bleached away when we make a home run hire.
Dohn is his own source
Please congratulate me!
No. It's true
-The Fort Wayne Mustangs (semi-pro)
-The Attica Innocents (the TOP program in the
ultra-competitive inter-prison league)
-The OMG DeWaynes (a top DIII school building
facilities to jump to DI in 2010)
-Notre Dame (as Charlie Weis' weight loss
coach/defensive coordinator)
-Atlanta Falcons (as head coach; wait, you
don't believe he is a candidate? just ask
him. better yet, ask Dohn.)
-Washington Generals (yes, it is a basketball
team that loses 100% of its games, but Dohn
has it on very good authority that DW is a
finalist for the job)
We had better promote/give Walker a raise before we lose him to one of these very real, very not made up positions.
In completely unrelated news, the Daily News announced that Brian Dohn's college-aged son was just accepted to a new graduate program at UCLA for aspiring defensive coordinators that is, completely coincidentally, being led by DeWayne Walker. Congratulations young Dohn!
