Yet another Trojan recruiting violation?
Another day, another Trojan recruiting violation.
The LA Times today is reporting that USC compliance officials are investigating whether an NCAA recruiting violation occurred during their pursuit of Lousiana prep star Joe McKnight.
Turns out, during 'ol McSmart's news conference, televised in front of the whole nation, he told reporters that his mind was put at ease about possible sanctions against USC dealing with the whole, ahem, "Free House" debacle, after listening to a conference call between 'ol Cheatie and Mr. Free House himself. Telephone communication between them could itself be a violation of NCAA recruiting rules, as former players are prohibited from making "telephonic communications with prospective student-athletes".
The AP reported Wednesday that McKnight and Carroll set up a conference call so he (McKnight) and his high school coach could talk to Bush to "ease his worries"
Of course, Cheatie "vehemently denies" any such conference call took place, and later McSmart said he "misspoke" about the whole thing, apparently "overcome with all the attention and scrutiny" which came with his announcement. Uh Huh.
Yeah, I'm sure USC compliance officials will do their "due diligence" and thoroughly "investigate" this whole matter.
If there's any funny business going on, they'll find it!!!
I mean, really.....how much longer are they going to allow this bullsh!t??? How many limos, free rents, free houses, free grades, "telephonic communications" etc... is it going to take to finally SANCTION THESE A-HOLES!!!!!?????
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

At this point its sheer comedy
The whole world now knows they are bunch of cheaters.
Karma will catch up with them sooner or later. I am not going to hold my breath for Pac-10 or NCAA officials to do their "due diligence." They don't care.
Apparently it's all about winning at all cost.

NCAA Protects Your Interests
If the NCAA was really a self regulatory organization that cared about fair play and the integrity of college sports, it would go after Carroll hard. It may not have jurisdiction to force Bush to talk to them, but it certainly has authority to investigate what USC knew of the violations and whether they were involved. Cheatie has said, "I didn't know anything about anything. If Bush did something wrong, go talk to him." His strategy is the classic "I didn't know" defense.
However, if Carroll did know something about it, Carroll's cover up of the facts is likely a violation as well. I may be wrong, but the NCAA bylaws probably gave a provision requiring employees of member institutions to provide truthful and accurate information. What did Cheatie know and when did he know it? (cheesy-but appropriate).
Of course, all of this doesn't matter because the NCAA has no interest in slaughtering a cash cow.
So, CHEAT ON!

"It never happened."
What he means is that Bush was not a former player. Cheatie Petie has never even heard of Reggie Bush. Anything that is a violation of any statute, ordinance, law, regulation, social more, fraternity by-law or rule of Scrabble never happened.
Not even Cheatie Petie's trOJan family believes that one. Unfortunately, the NCAA enforcement boys probably will.
(By the way - that's now two strikes on the Stupid Meter for McKnight. He'll probably hold a press conference to say that he was shorted on his ticket sale money for strike three.)

"Talking out of his ass"
At the very least, the rest of the nation is finally getting tuned in to what has been happening over there the last 6 years or so. I am confident that for every alleged violation that pops up, there are at least 3 or 4 more waiting to be found.
When everything is all said and done, I am confident that "Bush-gate" will end up being this decade's "Webber-gate", and Cheatie's comments of "It never happened" will take on a whole new meaning: $C football '04 and '05 ERASED from the books!
Oh, and don't forget, it's offseason, which means yet another Trojan rape case and/or underaged drinking/assault and battery charges are surely on their way!
GO BRUINS.
