[UPDATED] Matt Leinart: A Deadbeat Dad?

Not sure how else I can interpret these comments from Brynn Cameron wrt to raising Cole Cameron Leinart, the son of former TrOJan ballroom dancer:

"It's kind of hard for me as the mom -- I'm with Cole probably 99.9 percent of the time -- to open a magazine or read a newspaper article with Matt saying, Oh, I love being a dad. I love changing diapers. I love doing this. I'm like, Wait, what?' " said Cameron, who added, "I don't know how to word how he is about this, but it's been hard when I'm doing all the work, but he gets all the credit for it."

Oh and there is more from Ms. Cameron:

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback and former USC star "comes and goes whenever he wants," Cameron said. [...]

"I don't want to sit here and bad-mouth his lifestyle, but it is hard because we are different people. He likes that Hollywood stuff and I don't like that and raising a kid together, you have to work together as parents, but we're so different," Cameron said.

"It's hard, but I have to raise Cole to be a strong, secure kid so he knows what's right and wrong, what's good and bad and what really matters in life, which isn't what's going on in Hollywood or who's dating who. That's not what it's all about, and I think he'll know that being raised by me."

The Star's attempts to reach Leinart through the Arizona Cardinals were unsuccessful.

And what kind of "lifestyle" may Ms. Cameron be referring to when talking about Mr. Leinart. Here is a graphic reminder:

Gotta love the TrOJan "family values."

UPDATE I: Story now on M Zone where Yost says, "Matt Leinart's probably not going to win any Father of the Year awards".

UPDATE II: And now it appears on The Wizard of Odd.

UPDATE III: From Deadspin

:

This has to be a complete shock to Cameron, who surely thought Leinart -- through his friendship with Nick Lachey and Puritanical behavior at USC -- would be the stay at home dad type. We are extremely eager, as always, to eavesdrop on Kurt Warner's advice to the young QB come training camp.

When reached for comment, Leinart, sadly, did not say, "I have a kid?"

UPDATE IV:SI.com on Cameron being "on to something":

Brynn Cameron, the mother of Matt Leinart's son, apparently isn't happy with Leinart's parenting skills. Considering that Leinart seems to party more than Paris Hilton and Linsday Lohan combined, we'd say that Cameron might be on to something.

UPDATE V: SportsbyBrooks joins the party.

GO BRUINS.

Ms. Cameron
may want to retract her statements if the Manwhore starts hanging out with O.J.!

A strong, secure kid?
Sounds like she wants the Bruin lifestyle for her kid, and who could blame her after being burned by the irresponsible trOJan way of life? There's nothing that says "strong and secure" like going out and earning what you receive in life, rather than taking the easy way out and acting like a spoiled, entitled, trOJan bitch.

I suppose since both she and her father failed in that regard, it's only natural for her to want her son to "trade up". A good start would be NOT letting that kid be a trOJan in 17 years.

Be careful, Ty.
Justscdad may jump down your throat.  What if he gets kidnapped and forced to go to justsc, like justscdad's son?

But you're right, of course.  Matt Jr. would be a higher quality human being as an adult if he avoids justsc like the plague.

I fear no reprisal
Especially not after SUCdad's little name-changing act he tried to pull earlier. That kind of cowardly, trOJan-esque move makes me question whether the first part of his name is even accurate. He has zero credibility, and him disagreeing with me is essentially an affirmation that I am on the moral high ground.

These clowns
bring the ridicule upon themselves.

How many times have you heard the BS phrase "Trojan Family"?

by Nestor on Jul 22, 2007 1:34 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

It's taken out of context
They mean to say "Illegitimate Trojan Family".

by Tydides on Jul 22, 2007 1:41 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Blech
I just spit up in my mouth when I clicked that link.

I guess Trojan Family Values don't include spending quality time with your wife and kid.

by Barnes2JJ on Jul 22, 2007 1:42 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I wonder
if there is anything that Trojan Family Values booklet abour murdering former spouses and their lovers?

by bluestreet on Jul 22, 2007 1:44 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

And your point is?
This little article and picture shows us the trOJan family quite well.

IIRC, "Boyz N the Hood"...
... the film directed by $C alum John Singleton, had a great line uttered by Laurence Fishburne's character:

"Any fool with a ** can make a baby, but it takes a MAN to be a father."

I just watched it
I don't know about anyone else, but I still get excited to watch games that are 15 years old, even though I know the outcome.

Every time I am turning it on
I am getting a TrOJie basketball game.

by Nestor on Jul 22, 2007 2:16 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Idiot Leinart
What else should you expect from a SUC player?  It just looks bad no matter what angle you look at it from.  Kudos to Brynn Cameron who is making the best out of a bad situation.  She is one fine gal and hopefully she'll be back on the basketball court this next season.  How Leinart could knock her up and then just unceremoniously dump her is beyond me.  One fine gal....even if she attends that "other" school across town.

$C or not, any person giving...
... their honest best effort to raise their kid right should be given their due props.  And there is a whole freaking lot of people in this world trying to give that effort, every day, with and without interviews.

And anyone who doesn't give their honest best effort to raise a kid they helped bring into this world?

Freaking deadbeat punks.

by Meriones on Jul 22, 2007 5:42 PM PDT   0 recs

Im sure she is making a great effort
and is bringing her kid up right.  She is lucky to have family around too.  But lets be honest about something ... what did she expect from the manwhore??? "We're so different" ... And you didn't see that at all when you were his girlfriend?? I know unplanned pregnancies happen but cmon ... she needs to own up as well.  Why am I writing about this?? I dont give a rats ass ... lol

by DumpDorrell on Jul 22, 2007 8:02 PM PDT   0 recs

Exactly!
I'm with DD on this! I mean, it's nice to play the victim in public, and she is getting a raw deal...but she has to own up to her own responsibility. Having unprotected sex with the manwhore with the Hollywood lifestyle...real bright, are we!

Oh and I bet Manwhore's parents are just thrilled to have a grandson and to embrace him...NOT! I hope some feminist organization starts going to Cardinals games to hold up "DEADBEAT" signs.

Some writer should write a nice article about the good examples these Trojie football players are setting:

- Bush: you have to follow the rules sometimes
- Jarrett: you have to pay the rent sometimes
- Leinart: you have to be a dad sometimes

Sweet!!!
Great to see BN's reach!

by bluestreet on Jul 23, 2007 8:24 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

splitting hairs...
he isn't a deadbeat dad, no stories or rumors of him failing to financially support the kid. NOW and the other feminist groups won't be protesting him so long as he writes the checks to keep the kid comfortable in diapers and wagon wheels.

He is obviously a crap dad and a lousy role model, though.

by ucladj89 on Jul 23, 2007 11:39 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

technicality
he may not be a "deadbeat" Dad in legal terms, but this report sure makes him sound as like punk a$$ b!tch and a "Deadbeat Dad" in spirit.

by bluestreet on Jul 23, 2007 12:07 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Don't push this, Blue
If this gets turned over to the justsc spinmeisters and legal team, dad will become "Father of the Year" and end up pushing Cheatie Petie out as "Humanitarian of the Year."

All kidding aside, if Leinart doesn't realize what he's doing to the kid and what he's missing himself, then he's beyond salvage.  I guess I'm an eternal optimist - I would like to see guys like Matt and the other morally bankrupt justsc guys see the light (which begins with a confession, in my opinion).  But somehow I don't think it's going to happen.  He's still a boy, not a man.

There's still hope
If Maradona can admit to the Hand of God, anything can happen.

by SuperBruinMan on Jul 23, 2007 7:39 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Maybe not a deadbeat
but definitely a liar. Hasn't he been telling the press how much he loves being a father and a lot of other garbage? A deadbeat to me does not imply financial withholding only.

by tasser10 on Jul 23, 2007 2:03 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Let's call a spade a spade...
... and a punk a punk.

I will certainly concede that the argubaly more widespread connotation of "deadbeat dad" is one who skips out on financial child support responsibilities along with "showing up" responsibilities.

Based thereon, I am willing to refrain from calling Mr. Leinart a "deadbeat."

However, I reserve the right to use other terms to describe this weak-*ss move by him.

Anybody got an appearance on 8-13?
I would like to sit in on that hearing, but, alas, I'm a bit far away.

by Fox 71 on Jul 24, 2007 4:57 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Leinart reminds me of another Trojan
Remember their old coach Henry Bibby.  He was another good example of the Trojan "family" of deadbeat dads.  Hes nothing like us over here at UCLA.  Leinfart probably learned how to dump his kid from Bibby himself.
