Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

Expectations?

"Inside and out, this is the best team I've had," Dorrell said. "Inside as people, and outside as performance. Our expectations are so high. The pressure we put on ourselves is greater than any outside pressure."

So says UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell in an article published in the Daily Bruin.

Just in case anyone reading this blog feels that our expectations for the team are unreasonable, the team's expectations -- and the head coach's -- are even higher.

Expectations
To restate the performance that the team needs to have for me to have faith in the HC.

Win the PAC-10
Beat SC
Win a BCS bowl game

Well there you have it
I cannot think of a more clear message than the one Karl Dorrell himself is sending to Bruin Nation and to college football ... this year we expect great things. No Excuses!!!

Best team yet?
Well 2 years ago we won 10 games and a bowl game. Does this mean we should expect 11, a bowl game win and a win over SC? Hmmmm I've heard that somewhere before.

The excuses scenario
KD may not be in a position to make any excuses if the season falters, but I have a sneaky suspicion that his support would then make excuses for him.

Call me cynical, but history has taught me not to trust KD nor his supporters.

That said, if the Bruin FB team accomplishes the 3 item this as listed by BSB above, AND the team finishes with 10 or more wins the following season, then I will conclude that the program is in good hands.

I don't think this is unreasonable, because the goal is to have consistency in excellence (which is what both KD and DG promised upon KD's hiring) and not a roller-coaster ride.
