Under The Bus
Bumped from the diaries. GO BRUINS. -N
The Liar thinker continues to sound more and more ridiculous every day.
I see the Simers articled linked up in the main page. But check out the quotes in which Dorrell once again tries to shift lot of the blame on his players:
"It wasn't anything about preparation," Dorrell said when we got together Tuesday. "I told our players this team was going to be dangerous and desperate. What's disappointing, our players got caught up with the fact 'we're UCLA and we're ranked No. 11.' "
What's disappointing was Dorrell's players were advised of the trap they were about to enter, and they did not listen. These are his recruits, his players, his seniors and he has spent countless hours bonding with them, but they did not listen.
"From the players' perspective," Dorrell said, "I'm sure they're saying, 'yeah, he told us, but is that really what's going to happen?' I think they got the message; they just didn't react to the message."
Apparently Dorrell also did say that it was his "fault." But whatever. The joker still couldn't help blaming his players in the press.
And then there was this on Monday:
"We weren't expecting anything like that to happen. We'll learn from this game, unfortunately, as a difficult embarrassment. Are the issues fixable? No question: They are fixable, and that's really what our plan is, is to go out and fix those things."
WTF?
"Fix those things"
But not worries. This is what Dorrell told Simers:
"I sleep well at night," Dorrell said. "I did everything I could."
Yeah, that's not a slap in the face to entire Bruin family. He single handedly flushes the program down the toilet but he shows no signs of remorse in public.
Like we have said before we shouldn't be fooled by the stuff we hear about this clown being some kind of nice guy. A nice guy would at least show some sign of remorse or concern in this case when the whole world around him has totally collapse because of his incompetence.
The Liar Thinker is turning out to be one of the biggest jerks in college football.
Time for Morgan Center to throw this loser under the bus.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Unf*ngbelievable
I think we have our new mantra for this lunatic.
The sad part is, he probably did do everything he could. But that does not mean he should be sleeping well at night. He should have taken the money and run and given our guys a chance at having a successful, proud season with a coach who has a clue.
Hey Dorrell, teams that are highly ranked are supposed to walk around with a swagger. All teams in every sport who are highly ranked are supposed to have a lot of confidence. In fact, many people believe this confidence might actually help them play better.
Would you prefer the team walk into games thinking, well, we are ranked No. 11, but we know we're actually not that good? Would that help their confidence level?
Remember "You Can't Win Every Game"? It's a perfect philosophy for Dorrell.
These quotes really do make me sick.

In fact,
Is he so absolutely clueless as to not even understand that he should be absolutely sick about this horribly embarrassing loss?
Even if he doesn't think it was his fault, he should not be sleeping well at night. Something is very, very wrong with the program and whether it is the fault of Dorrell, or the team, or both, or God, or whatever, he should be extremely concerned. In fact, maybe he should put in some Gruden-like hours and not sleep so much while working to correct the problem.
I just cannot believe this.

I don't wish physical sickness on Dorrell or anyone, but KD should not be sleeping well at night.

I Wanted To Give KD The Benefit Of The Doubt

12-0 or 0-12, doesn't matter to KD
Let the rest of the Bruin community tear its hair out over 44-6, he's moving on. Hey, he did the best he could -- ain't his fault, the players didn't execute.
Total, complete a-hole attitude and demeanor.

I can't believe
"I sleep well at night. I did everything I could....", he has no clue what it means to be the head coach, to be the face and spokesperson of the university and the football program. If ever you needed evidence of the disconnect that exists between Dorrell and the school and the players, this is it.
Is DG reading or hearing what this guy is saying to the press? First his comment that we're not as good as everyone thinks we are and now this. And still, Morgan Center does nothing...WTF is going on here?
by kdout on Sep 19, 2007 11:04 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Not the Thinker
He can say "it's all my fault" till he's blue in the face, but when the rest of your interview suggests that you do not believe it's your fault, then it's simply a contradiction. If something like 44-6 was ALL MY FAULT I can GUARANTEE that I would NOT "sleep well at night".

Dang, 5-year-olds speak better than KD
Now, we get "...fix those things..." What things? Pass protection? Pass rush? Downfield coverage?
I don't ever remember this joker talking in conventional football terms, it's always vague and general phrases.

Fine company to be among...
We were supposed to be in the company of SC and LSU, etc.
Thanks, KD, for your best effort. And beddie-bye and have a good sleep tonight.

This is my therapy
So, while KD is sleeping like a baby at night, I lie awake pondering the great mysteries of the universe, like:
How could we NOT score a single TD against Utah?

SIOC Honors
Penn State, UCLA, Clemson
No one's buying the "we're not as good a team as we thought we were" excuse, Karl.

I agree, Dorell sounds stupid.
However, I think the players deserve criticism too. I think the players are getting a free pass because of KD's incompetence, yet they've done squat.
If we want to say the players have talent, we could and should expect them to show it, even with KD around--Even really bad coaches with experienced teams like us don't lose 44-6 to Utah.
Sure, KD should go. It's so obvious. But our players, geez . . . show me something.

Work Ethic
To change subjects for a bit:
After Howland and our boys reached the first of their back-to-back Final Fours, I recall reading that he and his coaching staff got right to work on their next opponent. They had already done tons of research and preparation on all possible opponents through the tournament. His players share this commitment to excellence and would be kicked out of the gym after sneaking in for a practice. Even after a thrilling victory, having a successful team, a bleary-eyed Howland was working late into the night, preparing.
It's rather telling that, even after a devastating 44-6 loss to a then winless Utah team, Dorrell has no problem sleeping like a baby.

Utes may say UNLV is not nice
By mental telepathy/consciousness studies one could imagine the Utah players thinking things like:
a. This isn't fair. We beat "the Sleeper" last week 44 to 6. Now these noisy Rebels beat us 27 to 0. UNLV actually have a coaching staff that knows what they are doing, that's not fair. They should be like "The Thinker".
O Thinker, think of this : UNLV is tied for first in the Mountain West at 1-0, mighty Utah is in LAST place all by themselves at 0-2 having lost to Air Force at home and UNLV on the road.
b. Calling KD "The Thinker", are you sure you don't have a lisp?
c. "Dirty Pool!", this must be cheating, or worse sneaky: the UNLV coaching staff actually PREPARED their team for a football game. Not like "The Sleeper".
