Center Court: Ben Ball (Washington) Open Thread

Ben Ball warriors are back home from their first Pac-10 road trip of the season. They open up tonight against a talented Washington Huskies team, which handed us a stinging loss last time they played us in a Seattle.

We have talked all week about how we can't look past the Huskies. They are anchored by a "beast" in Jon Brockman, which means this guy will have to give us another stellar effort to follow up his awesome outings against Stanford and Cal:

In couple of years we will have a shot of Reeves Nelson doing the same thing in an open game thread. For more on how Love and rest of his Ben Wall warriors match-up with the Huskies and other notes on tonight's game go here, here and here.

The tip off is set for 7:30 pm PST (FSN Prime). If you are not getting the game on television you can follow it via links provided at the official site.

As always, if you are watching, listening, following, or tracking the game online, post your comments here.

This is our Ben Ball Warrior open thread.

Fire Away.

GO BRUINS.

Game Time?
In Texas, it's listed at 9:30 (CST) which, as best I can calculate is the same as 7:30 PST.

I think the 10:30 must be EST.

Showing off my math skills.

UCLA up 9 thanks to their defense
They're making things happen right now. And they just forced another turnover so they'll have the ball after the timeout.

Russell Westbrook looks fantastic so far in this game.

Their Best O

Luc with the layup and the foul
UCLA was a little bit confused on that last offensive sequence. UW has taken advantage a couple of times of UCLA's overplaying by doing alley-oops or allowing Brockman to bulldoze over people.

by UCLA4Life on Jan 10, 2008 8:13 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Luc seems to be doing really well
from what I see here and on gametracker: 10pts, and 4-4 from the line. I like what I am seeing.

UCLA very active tonight
And they haven't even played their best yet. They've just played well so far. UW is lucky the refs are allowing a lot of physical play by Brockman tonight.

UW goes back to the line after a foul by Mata-Real.

UDub has 24 after 12 minutes or so
after only getting 23 in 20 minutes in the first half.  Are we playing the second half different somehow?  Is this a second half like we started a few games earlier?  Kind of hard to tell not seeing the game and just looking at the numbers (one set of which is 17-19 at the FT line, which I like.)

Collison and Aboya out
Losing those 2 affected the play. UW has been more aggressive in the second half and UCLA has allowed a few putbacks and layup attempts. UCLA still in control and should not lose this one.

UCLA just a bit sloppier the last few minutes because of losing Collison and Aboya and having to rely on Keefe and now Stanback a little more than they're used to seeing.

Just peeked at the justsc box score
With 8:25 left, justsc is zero for zero from the FT line, and Wazzou is 9-12.  justsc has 15 fouls, Wazzou has 9.  I guess there's no doubt that Timmeh has turned justsc into a well-disciplined machine.
