Center Court: Ben Ball (Washington) Open Thread

Ben Ball warriors are back home from their first Pac-10 road trip of the season. They open up tonight against a talented Washington Huskies team, which handed us a stinging loss last time they played us in a Seattle.

We have talked all week about how we can't look past the Huskies. They are anchored by a "beast" in Jon Brockman, which means this guy will have to give us another stellar effort to follow up his awesome outings against Stanford and Cal:

In couple of years we will have a shot of Reeves Nelson doing the same thing in an open game thread. For more on how Love and rest of his Ben Wall warriors match-up with the Huskies and other notes on tonight's game go here, here and here.

The tip off is set for 7:30 pm PST (FSN Prime). If you are not getting the game on television you can follow it via links provided at the official site.

As always, if you are watching, listening, following, or tracking the game online, post your comments here.

This is our Ben Ball Warrior open thread.

Fire Away.

GO BRUINS.

Game Time?
In Texas, it's listed at 9:30 (CST) which, as best I can calculate is the same as 7:30 PST.

I think the 10:30 must be EST.

Showing off my math skills.

What can I say? Easy to get all screwed up when you live on the East Coast but still have your mind out West.

If you had a Mac...
...you could subscribe to UCLA basketball in iCal and it would give you the whole schedule in your time zone.

My mind and body are out west
in San Diego, and the game is not listed as being televised.. just the $uC game.. I assume it's on in the LA area?

by Class of 86 on Jan 10, 2008 7:16 PM PST   0 recs

My mind and body still in the Bay Area
also not televised here. Its just like when my mind and body are back in Virginia.

Coach Neu...
at center court!  He is shaking hands with some Huskies (I believe it was John Brockman).  Uh oh, I hope that isn't an NCAA violation...

How was it?

FSN
That on the court camera angle is the worst thing ever thought of. Unless you want to see the ref's rear end, of course.

Aboya with 3 fouls already
Phantom foul on there. Didn't look like Aboya fouled.

UCLA up 9 thanks to their defense
They're making things happen right now. And they just forced another turnover so they'll have the ball after the timeout.

Russell Westbrook looks fantastic so far in this game.

OMG
THAT was a beautiful play by Mata-Real, Shipp and Westbrook.

Just beautiful.

Another great play
Saw that one developing with great off-the-ball movement.

by UCLA4Life on Jan 10, 2008 8:06 PM PST   0 recs

Their Best O
is their D right now.  They're not getting much out of their halfcourt sets but they're winning the TO battle.  Westbrook making things happen as always - LOVED the touch pass back to Josh.

by tliggett on Jan 10, 2008 8:06 PM PST   0 recs

Inadvertent whistle
Dentmon then decides to foul Collison before the ball is inbounded anyways.

by UCLA4Life on Jan 10, 2008 8:07 PM PST   0 recs

Nice to read about all the nice plays
in that there is no TV in Tampa.  The justsc game is on, but I think I'll pass.  Hey - there's a concept for OJ2 - a pass.  Naw - too complicated.

Luc with the layup and the foul
UCLA was a little bit confused on that last offensive sequence. UW has taken advantage a couple of times of UCLA's overplaying by doing alley-oops or allowing Brockman to bulldoze over people.

by UCLA4Life on Jan 10, 2008 8:13 PM PST   0 recs

Luc seems to be doing really well
from what I see here and on gametracker: 10pts, and 4-4 from the line. I like what I am seeing.

by bruinhoo on Jan 10, 2008 8:13 PM PST   0 recs

C Dollar
Wonder if C Dollar ever looks at the rafters and wishes he was still at UCLA?!?

by Bailey on Jan 10, 2008 8:13 PM PST   0 recs

UCLA very active tonight
And they haven't even played their best yet. They've just played well so far. UW is lucky the refs are allowing a lot of physical play by Brockman tonight.

by UCLA4Life on Jan 10, 2008 8:14 PM PST   0 recs

Broadcast
It's on Fox Sports Pacific in both San Diego and the Bay Area.

The guide says High School Track Meet, but it's being broadcast

by karaethon on Jan 10, 2008 8:14 PM PST   0 recs

On digital, possibly
I did get FSP when I lived in the Bay area and had digital after graduation. Not on regular cable, sadly.

Love with a great pass
I don't know how he got that one to Mata-Real.

by UCLA4Life on Jan 10, 2008 8:15 PM PST   0 recs

Mata's Hands are so much better
Remember when he'd drop those passes?

Both he and Aboya have really improved over their careers.

UCLA will need to finish strong.

UCLA recovers to knock it out of bounds.

UW turns it over on the pressure.

Collison misses the floater
UW goes back to the line after a foul by Mata-Real.

Right guy to foul though... 2-16 from the line as he misses both.

Mata with a nice turnaround shot. UCLA up 13.

Aboya fouled out.

Collison is out with the hip.

UDub has 24 after 12 minutes or so
after only getting 23 in 20 minutes in the first half.  Are we playing the second half different somehow?  Is this a second half like we started a few games earlier?  Kind of hard to tell not seeing the game and just looking at the numbers (one set of which is 17-19 at the FT line, which I like.)

by Fox 71 on Jan 10, 2008 9:13 PM PST   0 recs
