Rams To Screw LA Again?

Just saw this on What's Bruin:

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported today that former USC and Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow has spoken by telephone to St. Louis Rams coach Scott Linehan about taking over as offensive coordinator for the 3-13 Rams.

Linehan told the newspaper that he has personally interviewed Atlanta Falcons assistant Hue Jackson and Cincinnati quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese and has spoken by phone to Chow, former Baltimore head coach Brian Billick and ex-Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron.

Star-divide

Okay, hate to drudge up old Ram wounds, but still, if Chow ends up going to the Lambs, that would be one way to look at it.

I don't blame Chow though for looking around a little to assess all his options before making a final decision. I think he is being smart. But the Lambs still suck.

Come back to Cali Coach Chow!

Go Bruins!!!

NFL Owner Gets Two-Minute Warning
Posted Jan 18th 2008 4:37PM by TMZ Staff

TMZ has learned Georgia Frontiere, one of the few female owners in the history of the NFL, may not be attending the Super Bowl, and not because her team was 3-13.

The 80-year-old NFL icon, responsible for moving the Rams from Anaheim to St Louis, is in grave condition at an L.A. Hospital. Her condition is described as "minute to minute."

Under Georgia's rule, the Rams won their only Super Bowl in franchise history, back in 2000.

"Well, cross (her) off, then.."
Ah yes, the redoubtable Rachel Phelps is finally releasing her icy grip on this life soon to join her long-ago ocean swimming hubby in Nirvana somewhere.

The Rams were a great team right up until the nanosecond that Carroll Rosenbloom fired George Allen. ("I gave him an unlimited budget and he exceeded it in two weeks.")

I returned my loyalty to the Niners and never looked back.

By the way, Georgia Frontiere, was a chorus girl from the bustling metropolis of Bakersfield, who seemed to attract a crowd of adoring and licentious males as well as inciting them to seamier deeds. Dominic, her last hubby, was serving time at the SLO men's facility for kiting checks and attempting to scalp Rams Super Bowl tix. He was, of course, known for that noteworthy achievement of being the composer of the Outer Limits theme. It is long believed that Rosenbloom's death was a Mafia hit, an attempt to let folks know what "sleeping with the fishes" was really about.

Also, many regard Georgia as the role model for the Cleveland owner, Rachel Phelps, in the movie Major League. Among the more famous quotes from that pic being uttered by her when she discovers that one of the prospects she proposes to invite to Spring training is dead:

"Well, cross him off then.."

This was the only thing I could see
preventing Chow from ending up here. Actually 2 possibilities: another NFL OC job or (I hate saying this) a job across town. Hopefully neither of those come to fruition.

Is there any reason..
specifically why Chow would chose a Pro gig over a college gig? Seeing how he won't be taking a pay cut for the next two years and he'd be close to home?

An NFL pension
not sure of all the surrounding facts, but the word is that Chow would be eligible for a league pension if he coaches in the NFL for 2 more years.

she passed away

Frontiere Kicks It
Posted Jan 18th 2008 6:53PM by TMZ Staff

TMZ has learned Rams owner Georgia Frontiere has died in L.A.

Frontiere inherited the Rams when her husband, Carroll Rosenbloom died while swimming. A St. Louis native, she moved the team there and the team later won a Super Bowl.

A rep for the family tells us that Georgia died at UCLA Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Chow's not coming to UCLA
if he gets offered an NFL job.  There's too much money in the NFL, and the pension is only a couple years away for him from what the trOJies say.  I hope we get him, but I just don't see it.

Damn
I hate to say it. Being biased, I think Norm should come to UCLA; but even I have to admit he would be stupid to pass up the Rams gig for this one. The only reason I see Chow coming to UCLA now, is if he intentionally wants to stay close to home before retiring.
