A Toast To The Roundball Mecca

We are now in the last day of February.

Yes my mind is completely on the game on Sunday. And I am really thinking of anything else besides taking care of Arizona. But it is still hard not to get excited about the fact that March is here.

Just five years ago this time of the year was the most miserable one of my sports season. Bruins were no where in the national conversation re. March Madness, while Lakerland seemingly was lost in one endless drama after another in tiresome Shaq-Kobe soap opera.

Just thinking back to agony of all those years ... it is just nice to see this:

And this:

I don't know how this season ultimately will end up for both of those teams. Bruins may not end up winning banner number 12, while the Lakers may not end up hanging banner number 15. But to me that doesn't matter. Where you are, whatever you are doing this Friday, if you are a hoop junkie with Southern California roots, take a moment and savor it in: both of our teams are in position to make a run. Raise a glass to the Roundball Mecca of America.

Hey BN brothers and sisters who root for the Warriors ... you get B'Diddy. So life is not all that bad for you either. Here is to a Baron v. Jordan showdown in the West after we are done celebrating number 12.

Anyway back to Ben Ball. Let's hope our boys are ready for another huge game on Sunday. We will zero in on the Wildcats tomorrow am.

GO BRUINS.

That's a gorgeous sight to behold
But can you do me a favor and photoshop the Clippers part out (long time EX-season ticket holder)?

Thanks in advance Nestor

What a time
This is the most excited I have ever been about basketball. I'm watching the Lakers go for their 11th straight victory tonight against Portland, then I get to laugh in my buddy's face (a U of A grad)on Sunday.

Gotta love roundball!

I'll take
the Warriors making the playoffs again.  Baron v. Jordan?  Absolutely.  Winner gets AA in the Finals...

out of the cellar
after the past 15 years, I would settle for small miracles like that from the Warriors.

Wooden
Just read that Coach Wooden is in the hospital due to a fall and has a couple of broken bones.  All Bruins need to have high hopes that he will be ok.  He is such an inspiration to us all.

I guess it would be too much to ask
that the Clippers at least be in playoff contention and not wallowing in the cellar again.  As a long time Clipper faithful (started my agony when they were in SD and I was at UCSD), I dream of the day Sterling sells the team and the remaining fans get a real owner.  Where is Larry Brown and Danny Manning, Ron Harper, Loy Vaught, and Michael Cage, when you need them.  Well at least I still have my Bruins to help bring balance to my basketball world.   As they say, beggars can't be choosers....

Good times
and hopefully, in the not too distant future, instead of feeling miserable around the end of December and beginning of January, we can be feeling pretty good about a certain program returning into the national spotlight.

Easy stats for the MSM to derive
from those standings:

UCLA has scored the most points in Pac-10 conference play.

UCLA has allowed the least points in Pac-10 conference play.

Good catch.
With the exception of cal (and aren't they usually the aberration?), the ranking in points against mirrors each team's place in the conference.

Just goes to show the importance of defense, which should make us feel pretty good about our chances.

Its like Heaven
I couldn't agree with your comments more on this.  The Bruins are in the thick of things with a team that you love to watch.  I can finally stomach watching the Lakers again - they are actually watchable and will only get better when Bynum and Trevor Ariza come back.  What a year!
