Timmeh Gets Caught YouTubed Calling Indiana?

Bumped. If this is true, this will be the story of the night regardless what happens in tonight's game. GO BRUINS. -N

Oh man.

First Calipari. Now Timmeh!!!

Idiots are on a roll today!

Sounds like someone caught Timmeh calling Indiana looking for a job!

He sure sounds like Timmeh. Doesn't he?

Someone call that number - 213-740-3819 - I have been told that is Timmeh's voicemail at SuC.

If this is true (I still think this is a prank) this will turn out to be one of the dumbest moves ever in major college sports. Even dumb for a Trojan.

Go Bruins!!!

[update - bluestreet]: Looks like there is a story up on HoosierNation.com which reports Timmeh initiated contact with IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan about the open position this week.

UPDATE II -N: SuperBruinMan with more on this developing story. The Trojan blogger from the Trojan Times is working hard to show this is a prank (which it may be)

The voice on the message sounds exactly like Floyd and leaves his direct telephone line (which is why we aren't linking to the video here). A recent attempt to call that line wasn't answered, but it did indicate Floyd's own voicemail was full -- not an unusual occurrence, according to L,A, Times reporter Ben Bolch.

The voicemail from Floyd is left with "Stephanie," who presumably would be Greenspan's assistant. Here's the catch. ... There's nobody by that name in the Indiana Athletic Directory. IU Sports Information Director J.D. Campbell confirmed by e-mail that he doesn't know a Stephanie. But here is the catch. As the guys from BruinZone.com note apparently the Trojan bloggers are not familiar with google. There is indeed a Stephanie in IU's athletic department. As they say in some well known website ... DEVELOPING. GO BRUINS.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Just called
It went to his voice mail saying that his inbox was full. Anyways, how recent did he do this?

I called also
I was kinda scared that it would go through, since I called using a UCLA line.

But the one listed on the USC website is 213-740-3815.

Interesting
I guess Timmeh is giving up his chances for rebuilding the program around Master P's son...

This is funny beyond words
If the voicemail is legit, how funny is that?  Last job ever, huh, Timmeh?  Too funny.

If this is true ...
... We can start calling him "Applicant # 9" or something like that. But this has to be a joke. Right? I mean he can't be this dumb.

Yeah
It's gotta be a prank.  It just has to.  But, if it's not him, dude does a pretty good Tim Floyd impression.  Just think of the fun someone could have with that.

And "Applicant #9" - just hilarious stuff.

Best prank ever
That sounds exactly like him.

But he really can't be that stupid.

LSU?
I thought he was going to LSU.

And, Bobby Knight was going back to Indiana (OK, I know that won't happen -- they won't have him back, but hey, there's a whole new crop of Hoosiers to choke.)

After
listening to this a couple of times, this has to be a joke. I know Timmeh never appeared to be the brightest guy in the world, but can he really be this dumb?

by BruinFanBaby on Mar 14, 2008 3:36 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

The story appears to be true
even if the recording itself is a fabrication.  As bluestreet points out above, HoosierNation.com is reporting that Timmeh contacted IU officials about the opening last week.

Floyd may not be the brightest guy
but he's not stupid. He may have contacted Indiana, but I doubt he'd tell a random assistant what he's calling for like this. He'd make sure he talked to the AD and I bet he could get the AD's direct line.

That said, what job would you want? Indiana or USC? College basketball powerhouse with 5 national titles or football first school with only one Final Four appearance. Indiana has more Final Four appearances than USC has Pac 10 titles. Now USC isn't the worst job in the country. You play in a great conference, in a new arena and you can get just about any recruit you want admitted, but some USC fans are actually saying he'd rather be at USC than Indiana. They've got to be joking right?

I call Fake
But still - funny as hell.

Why would he call and leave a number that's only a voicemail?

He is wrong, however, about Stephanie.  As posted on BZ, there is a Stephanie in the Indiana athletic department. Stephanie Siler is the Director of Basketball Operations at Indiana.

It should be noted
that she's the DO for Women's Basketball.

Seriously tooooo funny!
Go UCLA!

Even if true... How serious is IU?
Why would they go after Timmy knowing the type of "players" he brings in to his "program?" Does IU really want a guy who hires and fires people as long as their son can play ball? Do they really want 20+ year olds entering college as freshmen? Do they really want to deal with L'il Romeo just because he's friends with Derozan? Would they want Mayo under the pretense of a third party contacting the coach?

by UCLA4Life on Mar 14, 2008 8:28 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Ordinarily I would say no way
I always thought IU was far too classy to want to have anything to do with such a preposterous douchebag as Timmeh.  But IU also thought it would be a good idea to have Sampson as coach, so who knows.

What I do know is that I want Timmeh to stay at justsc.  We will never ever have anything to fear from them as long as he is there.  It's sort of the same way trOJans never wanted to see CTS leave.

I don't want Timmy at USC long-term
His questionable recruiting tactics will catch up and tarnish the conference's image. It's bad enough the USC football players get paid so much, now you've got Screamin' Timmy with his methods.

DO of women's basketball???
I guess being the head coach of IU's women's team is more appealing than the men's coach at SUC!!

...sounds about right to me!

by bruinskier on Mar 14, 2008 8:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Claims
La Times SCum blog said he was calling to schedule a game.  Against the women's team? I always thought you had to lock up the women when the "Dirty Sanchez's" come to town. However, the report didn't make it clear if he was trying to schedule the game on the road in Bloomington or at home in Baton Rouge.
