Any Questions?
Stanford got robbed in Pauley...right?
The refs handed us the Cal game...right?
SUC was supposed to pull off the huge upset...right?
That's what the MSM would have you believe, but in the end...

A HUGE thank you to all of you manning the gameday thread for keeping this finals-taking, paper-writing Bruin up to date on the game. I was climbing the walls when I heard KLove was having problems.
Since I didn't get to see the game, not much commentary from me.
Finally. FINALLY.
It is time.
Postgame Thread.

Collison outstanding
Let's not forget that Stanford is an extremely good basketball team. It should be very interesting to see their seeding and path through the brackets, as well as that of the other Pac10 teams.

P.S. and on another note, I'm still looking to buy a newer UCLA swingman Jersey size L, anyone got an extra one or knows of someone who does?

No Matter What Happens Next...
I hope our Team is feeling like I am because I want them to go out and play each game to enjoy every moment, no pressure and no worries. No one can take away what we have accomplished and it is a very beautiful thing!
Make me really proud to be a Bruin. It's not just the winning, but how we won and how much our Team seemed to enjoy every moment.

Love seeing Luc on the side too
It was a great statement game. I was at Staples and the crowd was obviously very much pro-Bruin. We got to send home a sad Michelle Wie who was in attendance (shouldn't she be practicing to actually win a golf tournament?).
#1 seed out west has to be locked up. Who's going to be in Anaheim cheering us on?

Solid Gold Win
This team showed TENACITY: not able to hit their free throws; KLove 1/6 in the 1st half with a spazzy back, LRMAM in street clothes; Collison making squeal like a girl - I had to keep going higher and higher in pitch after every play he made going for the basket - he played an epic game; Keefe using the body on D and cleaning up the boards on O, doing his assigned job, no more, no less; and the whole team getting back on D and playing amazing.
It felt like a Sweet 16 game - playing a really solid team that requires good fundamental basketball, some breaks, pure hustle, and a hot hand. Congrats BH, and after all the what ifs, I'm thinking perhaps we have the West #1 locked up.
P.S. I still hate the tourney.

#9 at the begining of the week
Note: Pomeroy has updated his RPI calculations to reflect Saturday's games. UCLA is now #4, Georgetown is #8 (Tennessee remains #1, but I doubt the selection committee gives them the #1 overall seed after their loss today.)

Good Game today
I didn't see Michelle Wie but we immediately picked out the Lopez mom in the stands.
I didn't appreciate the Stanford fans behind the basket during Love's free throws screaming first "Love is Fat" and then "Love can't shoot." The second is fine, the first, whatever.
Saw a couple of WSU fans, I guess they had tickets to all the sessions and didn't want them to go to waste.
James Keefe was AWESOME today, until those last two free throws, and I'm loving that he's getting a chance to show off his potential. And Darren Collison... WOOHOO!
Both of our throats hurt from screaming - we're probably getting a tad too old for this. Now we need to find out when the Anaheim games are so that we can try to get tickets to those games!

My guess for next opponents...
Round 1 -- Rematch with Portland St.#16 (5th best 3-pt shooting team in the nation)
Round 2 -- winner of Kent St.#5/Kentucky#4
Round 3 -- Indiana#9/Notre Dame#8 winner
Round 4 -- anybody's guess perhaps one of these: Tennessee; G'town; Kansas/Texas B-12tourney loser; Duke
Final 4 -- Memphis or Kansas/Texas
Final --- Too far in advance to predict, but the favorite to be there will be UNC.
Of course none of this will matter in about 18 hours... but something to ponder.

Final Four
Also Stanford, Washington State -- two teams I have enjoyed having us play this year.
Um, USC, well let's hope they tire someone out, but maybe miss the final shot to advance? I do want to root for the Pac-10, but I do have my limits. :)

Some Thoughts After This Game
Mata - four year veteran, 2 final fours
Aboya - two final fours
Keefe - McDonalds All-American
These guys are tough. They will not be rattled. We can work through injuries.
and maybe their biggest and most important trait: THEY HATE TO LOSE.

Perserverance
X's and O's are all well and good, but they don't take account of heart and determination. This year's Bruins team has both in abundance.
One final note. I know that Fox 71 keeps making the valid point to turn down the sound, and I keep making the mistake of keeping the sound on. But it is so frustrating to hear drivel like "Robin Lopez may be the most talented big man in the country" after one play. How about the guy who was the conference player of the year and held his own with back spasms. Also, they only gave Darren praise grudgingly, despit the fact that he was the man down the stretch, not Robin. Oh well.
Go Bruins next week and beyond.

I listen too --
Or
"Push it! Push it!" after we take a D rebound and go on O.
I just love that and will put up with the bad announcers to get it.
Still, would love a "live sounds of the game" broadcast. No announcers. Just ambient sound.
