SI Digs Ben Ball

I guess this is a perfect followup to Achilles's post on the Love profile in the paper of record.

Tomorrow Kevin Love is going to show up as the coverboy of this week's SI:

Just click on the image for a larger version of the cover shot. It also appears that unlike the experts at WWL, the experts at SI.com believe in our warriors.

But don't freak out about the dreaded SI "curse". From our official site:

UCLA current and former athletes have been on more Sports Illustrated covers than any other university
Moreover, IIRC last time UCLA basketball was mentioned on the frontpage of a SI college hoops preview - 1994-95 season - good things happened.

So hope Kevin and his team-mates take all this in and get ready for the Delta Devils Thursday night.

GO BRUINS.

I also think
That's a regional cover. I'd bet they have different cover for different regions.

Yes
There are several covers including Brandon Rush of Kansas.

And I'll end up
with Brandon Rush. (Heavy Sigh.)

I'm so excited
to see our Ben Ball Warriors in Anaheim. My seats are high up, but I really don't care. As long as I'm there, I'll be happy to see Kevin Love in what will most likely be two of his last games as a Bruin.

Why did SI put Love on the cover?
Don't they know Howland can't develop NBA caliber centers?
To Victory; or, until next year!

Extra Round 1 Tickets
My apologies if this isn't the right forum.

I have 4 extra tickets to Thursday's morning session: Kentucky vs Marquette & Stanford vs. Cornell. Not sure if anyone is looking for tickets for this particular session or to add on to UCLA/afternoon session.

I'm in San Diego if anyone is interested. I'm going to second round on Saturday, getting so excited. Go Bruins!!!!!!!!

On top and in your face, baby!

Hey, haven't
reported on any great LMR facebook status updates in a while...well he came through with just the one we were hoping to hear this evening.

"Lorenzo Mata has just 6 more games as a Bruin and he plans to leave ucla a champion."

...thats what we want for you as well Lo, and for everyone in the Bruin family.  Is it Thursday yet?

O.A.

SI Experts All Pick UCLA...
to win it all, but is Stewart Mandel high when he picked USC to make it to the Final Four??? I know the Pac-10 is the strongest league this year, but...

by CrouchingBruin on Mar 19, 2008 9:06 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

To be fair...
they could have last year, had it not been for a monumental collapse. This team is hard to beat.

Wow...
Every single one of those guys at SI.com is picking UCLA to win it all? When was the last time that happened for any one team? Did they all pick Florida the last couple of years? I doubt they did the first time...but it would be a great omen!

by tasser10 on Mar 19, 2008 9:09 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Lunardi
Also picking UCLA to win it all.

by Dexter Fishmore on Mar 19, 2008 10:37 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Too bad its not football...
we would already be in the National Championship game.
