UCLA v. Texas A&M Open Game Thread

OK guys and girls, now the fun begins.

Texas A&M is going to come out prepared to play. Throw out the seedings. Make no mistake, this is in no conveivable way an easy game for the Bruins. Strange things happen in the Dance. Ask Just ask UCONN. Every single possession matters. Take nothing for granted.

Of course, the best coach in America has instilled this in his players, and the Bruins will be up for the task. They know full well what is at stake. There are 11 banners in our house that serve as a constant reminder.

That said, here is your MOJO:

I cannot wait for this.

The Cardinal game has been great, but there better not be a second overtime to delay our game - it's already 1am over here!

CBS is Ruining March Madness
They don't have the bandwidth to do it right.

ESPN and Fox do.

Living in Texas I have to watch the worst games.

That's one reason I'm glad A&M won. Guarantees I see our game.

I have a good feeling
Game play wise, things are going fine.  With the normal adjustments, this is the kind of game we pull away in.  The only thing that makes me nervous is the officiating, which is showing it's potential to be screwy in the tourney.

by Menelaus on Mar 22, 2008 7:34 PM PDT reply actions

We need a run
to start the second half.

Need to show A and M that they can't win this.

Cut off their emotions and the game will be ours.

I have faith, just nervous :)

If I had to choose
a team that would play and win from behind, it would be UCLA.

That being said, I would rather we were ahead.  This is the tournament, and we can't rely on second half scoring if we want a 6 game win streak.

by dokein on Mar 22, 2008 7:36 PM PDT reply actions

I guess...
we can consider how well they are shooting, and how poorly we are playing on both ends, and that we 're only down 3, that we'll be fine if we start playing Bruin Basketball.

No dribble penetration by UCLA
The guards are settling for way too many jumpers. Outside of Collison, nobody can hit a shot. Gotta be aggressive and get to the basket and draw some fouls.

by UCLA4Life on Mar 22, 2008 7:39 PM PDT reply actions

agree
We didn't play well and only down 3.  Play up to our potential and should take this one going away.  Westy doing a good job on Carter.  Need to stop the interior now.  Quicker double teams and fast rotational help on D.

Why we're a number 1 seed and the standard in bb

by bruin78 on Mar 22, 2008 7:41 PM PDT reply actions

A&M doesn't have a real point guard
so it's amazing that they are blowing past us.

They won their first game with 3's. They haven't hit one against us and they are ahead.

The story is our weak D and lack of production from all but KL and DC.

The rest of the team will get in this.

JS has had two shots go deep and rim out. Soon, they'll start dropping through

sjh

by Class of 66 on Mar 22, 2008 7:42 PM PDT reply actions

They have 3 starters with two fouls apiece
If we can penetrate a little and draw more it will make them get a little conservative.  Play our game!

by popopapa on Mar 22, 2008 7:43 PM PDT reply actions

"borrowing" a friend's computer
As expected, another tough second-round game for the Bruins. Participation in a beer pong tournament took much of my attention in the first half, but I was able tosee DC hit some 3's, and little else on the offensive end.

by bruinhoo on Mar 22, 2008 7:43 PM PDT reply actions

I was going to say
JS made to shots that rimmed out.

So i feel for him, rimming out can kill confidence easily. He needs to make a key 3 to get back up.

by dproduct on Mar 22, 2008 7:44 PM PDT reply actions

They are 0-5 on 3's
maybe we are focusing on their strength -- and they are exploiting it.

Can you believe we are being outscored, by a lot, in the paint?

I can't.

Time to get the ball to KL in Deep.

But, in many O sets, he never goes in. And, when we miss outside shots, they rebound.

Why did coach pull Mata Real out after he made that beautiful jumper?  He was hot and we need him to match up against their big guys. Shipp better just pass up on his shots.  He's not on tonite, again and could shoot us out.

All those second chance shots because aTm is getting the ball in the paint. UCLA has fallen in love with the 3-pointer. UCLA finally forces a steal, but a foul is called.
