Leap Of Faith

We did it on the Friday night before Indiana.

We did it on the Friday night before Kansas.

And we did it on the Friday night before A&M.

Naturally we will once again take a leap of faith with the Boss on this Friday night before Xavier:

I think we are going to stick with this March tradition here on BN. Again from the boss:

It takes a leap of faith to get things going
It takes a leap of faith you gotta show some guts
It takes a leap of faith to get things going
In your heart you must trust
When it comes to hoops we took our leap of faith long time ago.

In Coach Howland and our Ben Ball warriors we all trust. Yeah, we BELIEVE.

Enjoy the tourney action before we get ready for game day.

GO BRUINS.

I thought
the juggler, all though weird, was a nice guy...I met him once when I was lucky enough to get floor seats, and he seemed to be generally enthused by UCLA basketball lol..

As Mike Tyson would say:
We need to go for the "juggler"

Go Bruins!

Looking back, not looking ahead
We played Davidson so long ago that I really didn't remember it, so I looked at the write-up.  We made up an 18-point deficit.  We were behind 32-14 in the first half, but ending the half on a 16-2 run, and eventually won 75-63.

Coach Howland said something after the game that Gonzaga, Georgetown and Wisconsin probably would agree with:  "I was really worried about this game," UCLA coach Ben Howland said. "I would not want to be the team that will play them in the NCAA tournament."

They are one of eight left standing, as are we.  We have a one game season left, then another one, then another one.  One of those might include Davidson.  We beat them once, but then another one of the teams still standing is Texas, and they beat us once.

All that said, I still like our chances in our next game.  Our one game season.

More Boss
After the A&M game, I kept thinking we need another song from the Boss:

Well we made a promise
We swore we'd always remember:
NO RETREAT, BABY
NO SURRENDER

Bill Plaschke nonesense
did anyone read the UCLA hating propoganda from this guy on LA times?

http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/ucla/la-sp-plaschke29mar29,1,2451609.column

This guy makes me puke.  I hope someone can counter this guy nonsense by true facts and correct analysis.

Take it upon yourself
Why don't you take the initiative and rip him into shreds? I don't read idiots like Plaschke as much as I used to. And I have become numb to nonsense like this. But if anyone else wants to rip him ... there is the diary section. GO BRUINS.

Put the column up in the locker room..
..some of the comments he makes (waking up, etc.) are (accidentally) correct. The rest is his usual bravo sierra.
God, it's great to be a Bruin!

Not just that column
Read today's roundup. I thought I had gotten numb to this stuff. But the cynicism and negativity in today's papers is beyond astonishing.

Professional Turd in the Punchbowl
Nestor,

I'd diary this but I don't want to give Plaschke any more attention than he deserves, which is zero.

This guy is the guy you hire to crap in the punchbowl just to make sure the guests are aware that there's reality staring them in the face when the hangover fades.

I am not sure if I read the article you were referring to, but I did read his piece on the aftermath of the Xavier game. (And I am only now reaching for my Zoloft.)

While he tries to cast a pall over the proceedings by threatening all Bruindom with the potential to stain recorded history..

..lessee, the Plague, the World Wars, Hindenburg, the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and now..the Bruins don't win a title on their third consecutive visit to the FF.

End of the world as we know it.

But if one carefully reads between the lines, what is truly ominous are the Bruins' refusal to extend the frivolity beyond perfunctory celebration, their lapsing into deep thought about what lies ahead for them in San Antonio.

That big man, Love, was so excited at one point Saturday, he actually danced across the court with fists pumping and voice shouting.

But, later, standing in a surprisingly quiet locker room with a single strand of snipped net in his souvenir cap, he was calm.

"That was great out there," he said. "But now it's about something else."

It would seem that Kevin Love, et al, have signed on to this mission with their hearts and they believe that three "unproductive" trips to the last dance are not acceptable, Mr Plaschke's bummerisims notwithstanding.
God, it's great to be a Bruin!
