Andrew Bynum Enjoying the Bruin Life
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
The Good News: UCLA is the place to be, even for young center prospects that also happen to be future franchise players like Andrew Bynum.
From Cohn vs. Cohn:
Thursday night my fraternity, Sigma Nu, threw its quarterly house party. Andrew Bynum, the injured center for the Los Angeles Lakers, the twenty-year-old former 1st round pick, was at the party. Word started to spread around the party of his presence, but no one could find him. Then suddenly he emerged from one of my friend's rooms with two girls and a small entourage of Sigma Nus following behind him. Everyone who had a camera or a cell phoned rushed towards him to get a picture.I just found a small sampling of those pictures here, here, and here
Bynum walked out of the hall, down a flight of stairs, and into the center of the dance floor, where he danced with the two girls. I don't know what this means about the state of his knee, or if he'll be able to play for the Lakers this post-season. But I do know that he can walk down stairs and dance to fast paced hip hop.
The bad news, for Laker fans, is that his knee is apparently healthy enough to dance on, but the guy still can't practice. I hope this was some convoluted stress test on that knee. We need you back, Drew!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

I LOL
I also don't see why I can't post something without someone assuming that I have some hidden agenda. If anything, that agenda would be that I want people to think that UCLA is a great place that even young NBA stars like Bynum would want to hang out at. Yes, that sure is terrible and lame. Oh wait no it's not, this is "Bruins Nation". Deal with it, "UCLAF4N".

Actually no I'm not in a fraternity
however, I will say that I saw Farmar at an apartment party on Kelton 3 weeks ago. That was cool.

Andrew Bynum, meet Kwame Brown
But isn't this guy supposed to be a franchise player for the Lakers who's been out for months (constantly delayed in his rehab too) supposedly rehabbing his knee, but then he shows up at a frat party and goes bar hopping with a fake ID while the rest of his team is handling business and winning games in the playoffs? I assume being able to practice should come before dancing with some chicks on his list of priorities.
I'll add in that I'm not a Lakers fan here, but I can guarantee that if Kobe was rehabbing an injury during the playoffs, he sure as hell wouldn't be out dancing while his teammates were out there winning games. He'd probably be killing himself in the gym all day and trying to get some rest at night to get himself back on the court as soon as possible, especially during the playoffs. Would Afflalo pull this crap? Of course not.
He's just a "kid", sure, but hopefully he grows up. Or else he's going to end up throwing cakes at people and getting traded to Memphis in a few years. That's another guy with all the talent in the world but a lack of drive to take himself to the next level.
Oh well, fortunately this isn't a post about a Bruin blowing off his rehab to go to a frat party. Go Bruins.

From the Laker forums I frequent
No one has ever said that Bynum has Kobe's or even Farmar's drive to get better, but according to Kareem, he has certainly put in the effort to be the player that he was before the injury. How this data point fits into what little I know about this guy is still up in the air. All I know is that of all the crazy things I've heard about regarding timetables and rehab and everything about his knee over the past few months, this is one of the least concerning to me as a fan.

Remarkable passion here!
I could care less about whether Andrew Bynum (who I don't think I had never heard of until this post) goes for his rehabilitation. I spent a lot of time rehabbing in exactly the same way, although not at the Signa Nu house.
Two comments. How did he get in? He's a pro basketball player and someone recognized him. If Elgin Baylor had wandered down Strathmore, he would have been invited in every house plus a few apartments.
Second, Kobe's "rehab." Wasn't Kobe rehabbing at that particular resort in Eagle, Colorado? (Real question, not rhetorical.) I would not use Kobe Bryant as the poster child for maturity and work ethic. I wouldn't hesitate to use him for his skill and heart and ability to deliver in the clutch, but he's no poster child for many other things. I'm not going to criticize him, because his character issues don't appear to be any worse than mine, when you get right down to it.

good point about kobe
I don't feel that this is the best use of Bynums time, and he should be working his ass off during the day and getting some rest at night to get ready. But that's just the work ethic I picked up with my UCLA education. Kids coming straight out of high school to the pros don't have that :-)
Just another reason why I don't care as much for any NBA team as I care for my Bruins....

can' the kid get a day off?
i'm glad bynum is out having fun, i'm sure he's not doing anything that would affect his rehab. get your boogie on.
but a ucla frat party? he could do much better. and this is from a former ucla frat boy who threw quite a few in his day. farmar and ariza need to show drew around la already...
and i love that people here still call the bar maloneys, i can't get myself to call it by it's new name either
