Aikman Inducted to CFB Hall of Fame

In a move sure to please the Bruin faithful, Troy Aikman, Super Bowl Champion, is a CFB HoF Inductee.

From the WWL:

Troy Aikman, Billy Cannon and Lou Holtz are among the 15 former players and coaches elected Thursday to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Aikman started his college career at Oklahoma, then transferred to UCLA. After two stellar seasons (1987-88) with the Bruins, he was drafted first overall by the Dallas Cowboys.

Congrats to Troy from Bruin Nation (and from CRN, apparently).

Congrats to one of my favorite Bruins!
Hard to believe it's been over 20 years since he was at UCLA.

I heard that Troy Aikman gathered a bunch of alumni to rally for CRN hiring. Glad to see he's got his old GA's back.

Congrats to Aikman!
But I can't bring myself to saying or writing his first name. :-)

That's why I write out his full name
Out of respect to you. He's on a first-name basis with my folks and I.

You know I thought about that
but in the spirit of the post I felt it was best to just let it go. Besides, there's a clear distinction in my book from Troy and trOJan.

Yeah I know
I just thought it was funny how we all thought about it.

It would be interesting to know ...
what the criteria for making the college football hall of fame are?

Troy Aikman is the best player I ever saw in a UCLA uniform. I thought he was simply great. But he only played two seasons for us, never beat SC, never won the Rose Bowl.

I'm an Aikman fan, but I could make the case that Cade McNown had a better overall career. Cade was a four year starter, beat his rival four times, led UCLA to 20 straight wins.

The college football hall of fame is a little weird to me. Terry Donahue barely ever even sniffed a national title and he got in.

I'm happy for Troy and congratulate him. But I do wonder how much of his induction is related to his success as a pro and his renown as a broadcaster.

I could be wrong, who knows ...

Go Bruins

It's a fair arguement
I'm probably one of the biggest Troy Aikman fans here, if not the biggest, and I agree that Cade is the greatest UCLA quarterback of all time. Still, Aikman wasn't the #1 overall draft pick for no reason.
