UCLA Baseball Open Thread - (Game 2 v. Arizona State)

Time for the open thread for the Saturday matinee action at Jackie Robinson (google map). Bruins dropped the first game of their ASU series. Per rye it was a frustrating game in which the Bruins had gone up 5-0 before losing by a score of 5-10. Here is the official recap.

Bruins resume the series today at 4 pm PST. If you live in Southern California, you need to head out here this afternoon:

You can follow our boys online by the gametracker in official website. As we have already mentioned this week the game is being shown on FSN.

The first pitch is scheduled for 4 pm PST. So if you are watching it or following it online swing away.

Play ball.

GO BRUINS.

Today's game
will be a test for the Bruins. After the way last night's game went, they can easily fold and say that ASU is just too good. It will be interesting to see how they come out today and whether they bring some intensity to the field.

The game also got a bit chippy last night and ended with an ASU assistant going after coach Savage while the coaches were shaking hands. The ASU bench first took exception to some overexciement on the part of the Bruins. Players on the bench came flying off the bench to high five Tim Murphy after he came through with a big strikeout. Then, it got really heated when Brendan Lafferty hit an ASU batter in the head. The ASU coaches thought it was on purpose and one of their assistants had to be retrained. After the game when the coaches were shaking hands, that same ASU assistant got in Savage's face and started yelling about the hit batter before he was pulled away by ASU head coach Pat Murphy (which is shocking if you know Pat Murphy).

Needless to say, there will be a lot on the line today and it could get chippy again. It wouldn't surprise me if a Bruin takes a pitch in the back in the first couple innings.
