Hopefully this story will have a happy ending. Taniel Maka committed to Bruins two years ago. However, he has been having a hard time getting through UCLA's stringent admission requirements (even though he met NCAA standards). Maka kept trying this past season and it didn't work out. It appears per CRN's recommendation Maka has ended up at UNLV to play for former CRN assistant Bobby Hauck. Here is to Maka having a great career for the Rebels. We will certainly be pulling for him. A bummer that we couldn't have him as a Bruin. GO BRUINS.

This is from ESPN (linked above): Four-star defensive tackle Julious Moore (Bellevue, Wash.) did not sign with the Bruins Wednesday. Moore said he's unlikely to gain admission into UCLA but is still committed to the program, according to the Los Angeles Times You have to appreciate Moore's honesty that the issue was academics. Although he hasn't gotten in yet, I really hope he keeps working on his classes and grades and make it in later. It looks like Taniela Maka is going to get it done (at least that's what the indications are) and I hope Moore chooses the same route. If he decides to go elsewhere, I certainly understand but I love how this kid has been honest all along. Good luck to you Julious. We are pulling for you. GO BRUINS

I am attending a signing day event at UCLA on Wednesday and I just found out that it will be broadcast live on the internet! I went to this last year and it was awesome! CRN will be there talking about each recruit and a few of them will be there. Let's hope it is one big celebration of all the signing day recruits we pull in! Click here for details. GO BRUINS!!!
Rumors about Jackson's academic standing have been floating around the internet during the past several weeks, but he addressed them head on. "I have nothing to worry about with that," he said. "I'm handling my business in the classroom."
According to Jon Gold of Daily News sports, "Jordan Zumwalt and Dietrich Riley are on unofficial visits to UCLA tonight..." Hopefully we can give these guys a good last impression.
That's the story according to a poster on BruinZone, linked above who claims to have heard it "from his father's mouth." DiPaolo was on his official trip to UCLA this weekend. If I have it correct, as of right now he is the only OL commit for Southern Cal. If folks see more on this with links from a credible media outlet, I'd suggest you put it up as a fanpost (if one of the frontpagers hasn't done it already). GO BRUINS.
Although not a complete surprise (see Gold), Barr finally committed to UCLA over Notre Dame. He comes in as either an enormous RB (which causes injury questions) or as a LB (which we need more).
Some important names on there (Heimuli, Epenesa, Barr). Hopefully Rick works his magic and gets us some commitments.
