UCLA offers 2012 PF Zena Edosomwan

The article linked is a Scout insider article. UCLA has made an offer to 2012 PF Zena Edosomwan, a 6'8" senior from Harvard-Westlake HS. Edosomwan has a number of offers already, including Cal, Wake Forest, USC, WSU, and others. He is currently ranked 31 (Rivals), 11 (Scout), and 21 (ESPN) out of all power forwards. Apparently a long and lean defensive player. A harbinger, good or bad, on Tony Parker's recruitment? Either way, I would rather Howland have a backup plan in place rather than pulling another Ray McCallum.

Howland offers 2012 PG Amedeo Della Valle

Ben Howland has offered 2012 PG Amedeo Della Valle, a 4-star (Scout) / 3-star (Rivals) 6-6 guard from Findlay Prep. He already has Pac-12 offers from Cal, Arizona, and Utah, as well as offers from UConn, St. Mary's, and Creighton. Howland definitely needs another PG, and definitely one for the 2012 class. But I'm a little concerned with how this reflects on the Parker & Shabazz recruitment. I assumed Howland would have four scholies (Zeek, Anderson, K. Jones, and Nelson) at his disposal. Does this mean he anticipates a Smith departure, or that he won't land one of Parker/Shabazz?

Two Sport Recruit Shaq Goodwin picks a Good Weekend to Visit UCLA

UCLA picked a good weekend to host highly touted two-sport recruit William "Shaq" Goodwin on his official visit. Goodwin watched part of the Bruins' come-from-behind football victory over Arizona State at the Rose Bowl on Saturday before catching their 80-72 triumph over Cal State San Bernardino in basketball on Sunday at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario.

BN Spotlighted in NBC Beyond the Arc for Basketball

From the article: "It promises to be an interesting season in Westwood. UCLA’s frontcourt is loaded, its backcourt is untested, there’s some pressure on coach Ben Howland,. . . So I asked Tyler, one of the many manager/editors at Bruins Nation, to help sort out what’s been a busy few months. As an added bonus, his Blogger Spotlight also has info on a scholarship the site is offering. Best read on for more."
