On the front page of today's sports page is a feature about Bruin stopper Gerrit Cole. Despite the fact that he's a Yankee fan and was drafted by the Yankees, he has no regrets about his experiences on the Westwood campus, as athlete and student.

Red Hot Gerrit Cole Dominating For Team USA

Rising junior Gerrit Cole stayed red hot, allowing one run (unearned) and two hits through four pre-determined innings to earn his second victory in as many starts this summer, leading the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team past Chinese-Taipei, 6-3, at Hsinchuang Field on Tuesday. Cole (2-0) struck out four batters and issued two walks. He improved his career record to 6-0 with Team USA. The right-hander has logged a 0.75 ERA, totaling 13 strikeouts and two walks in 12.0 innings for the Collegiate National Team in 2010. GO BRUINS.

Cole, Rodriguez invited to try out for 2010 Collegiate National Team

ICYMI Bruin ace Gerrit Cole and his batterymate Steve Rodriguez were invited to try out for the 2010 USA Collegiate National Team. Trials are slated for July 6-11 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex (NTC) in Cary, N.C. Cole and Rodriguez are among 39 invitees, of which 36 will compete for a spot on the final 22-man roster, while three players will be named as alternates. Good luck to both of them. GO BRUINS.

Bauer and Cole Named to Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List

The sophomore duo of Cole and Bauer rank first and second, respectively, in strikeouts in the Pac-10 Conference, through Monday, March 22. Cole has gone 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA in a team-high 32.2 innings. Bauer has posted a 4-0 record and 2.05 ERA through 30.2 innings. Both pitchers were selected as National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball on March 15, after having registered 15 strikeouts in each of their respective starts the previous weekend at the Whataburger College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas. Cole fanned 15 batters against Texas A&M Corpus Christi in a 11-3 victory on March 12, before Bauer notched 15 strikeouts in a 5-2 win over Mississippi State on March 13.

Gerrit Cole Named 2nd Team Preseason All-American

Gerrit Cole was named second Team Preseason All-American by Baseball America, the only Pac-10 starting pitcher to be named to the first, second or third team.

UCLA right-hander Gerrit Cole recorded 11 Ks in 5.2 hitless innings, combining with three relief pitchers to throw the first no-hitter in post-trials USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) history in a 10-0 victory over Guatemala before 1,344 fans at Coleman Field last week. UCLA's Gerrit Cole Invited to USA Baseball National Team Trials

The UCLA freshman arms continue to earn more honors. This time it's Cole who is acknowledged by being invited to the USA Baseball National Team Trials. Cole is one of five freshman to be invited, but he may pass on the opportunity. He is currently slated to pitch in the Cape Cod League this summer so he has a decision to make.

Cole ready to make impact at UCLA

A nice feature on Rivals.com about UCLA baseball's Gerrit Cole. Here's a quote from John Savage regarding Cole: ""One of the biggest things I notice about Gerrit is how great of a teammate he will be," Savage said. "He's talked about Omaha and making this program one of the nation's elite. Not only is he developing as a player, he's doing the same as a person. He's now a big part of this program."
