Hi Bruins! James Washington heads up a wonderful charity called "Shelter 37". The charity seeks to improve the overall well being of children whose life experiences have been disrupted by crime, violence, neglect, or abandonment. James and Matt Stevens will be the hosts of "The Battle of the Greens Golf Classic" at Brookside Gold Course in Pasadena (the course at the Rose Bowl) on August 8th, 2011. The proceeds will benefit UCLA and Shelter 37, so if any of you would like to enjoy an afternoon of golf as well as a meal/awards ceremony afterwards, please sign up! James and Matt will be your hosts, but there will be other former Bruins there as well! Here's the catch...he wasn't hired as a coach. His official position is Assistant Director Alumni Giving, which puts him in charge of raising money for scholarships. This is very, very interesting. I wonder what Coach Neuheisel has in store for him down the road.
