Arizona SF Sidiki Johnson suspended indefinitely

2

According to CBB blogger Neal Nieves, Johnson may be leaving the team altogether. This, just a day after Oregon SG Jabari Brown left Eugene.

tOSU and Cheating: NCAA 2011 is all about the $$$

Ohio State is cheating and lying because the NCAA is all about money and not about sports.

It's a great day to be alive and be a Bruin!

UCLA's #105 and #106 championship teams are in Washington D.C. They are scheduled to meet the President of the United States at the White House South Lawn at 5:45 pm (ET) when the President delivers remarks to NCAA Champion Student Athletes Monday. Congratulations to our softball and gymnastics teams. "Champion" sounds great! http://www.youtube.com/user/whitehouse?blend=1&ob=4#p/u/0/rIUxHVOS3no

NCAA rejects Memphis’ final appeal of vacated wins

4

It just makes me sick that an ineligible team was able to compete in the NCAA tournament and ultimately cost us another shot at #12. I understand that we didn't take care of our own business on the court, but I still think we matched up better against Kansas in the final. Not to mention, we probably would have had a more manageable match up in the semi-finals. I still hold out hope that the NCAA will get it right one of these days, and catch ineligible players ahead of time.

O’Bannon case could be a game changer

+

The US district court has denied the NCAA's plea to dismiss Ed O'Bannon's lawsuit against them. The lawsuit is over the use of former players' image and likeness in everything from video games to any other media that the NCAA produces. This isn't the first time that the NCAA has been sued over this issue. If you recall, Sam Keller sued the NCAA over the use of current players' image and likeness in NCAA related video games.

NCAA places Alabama football program on probation

1

Alabama, a high profile program, gets placed on probation. Could this mean that u$c is next. Probably not. The NCAA just continues to find other cases to deal with, instead of dealing with the big elephant in the room.

Outside the Lines - Package Deals

1

As discussed earlier this week, the practice of "package deals" was investigated by ESPN and the NCAA. I just finished watching this and it is very interesting. Michael Beasley straight out says he would have gone anywhere his AAU coach went. It didn't matter to him. The trOJans, of course, have taken advantage of this questionable practice more than anyone - Hackett's dad, Lil Romeo, and the father of a 2010 recruit. Not surprisingly, the trOJans would not partcipate in interviews for this show.

The NCAA enforcement staff will decide soon whether to roll the Mayo and Bush cases into one case...

The NCAA enforcement staff will decide soon whether to roll the Mayo and Bush cases into one case. If the same bylaw -- a player's receiving extra benefits -- was violated (even in two different sports), USC could be found to lack institutional control.
