Bruins Nation, a UCLA Bruins community

Last night was incredibly exciting. The Bruins took 1st place in the regionals with individuals also taking 1st place in all events except 1. Brittani McCollough took 1st on the floor exercises, Anna Li posted her 2nd 10 in a row on the bars and also took 1st on the vault. Vanessa Zamarripa won the overall, with Anna Li coming in 2nd and Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs tying for 3rd. For the 2nd week in a row UCLA earned the highest point score in the nation. This was my first gymnastics meet and it was filled with great energy and joy. I've made this a fanshot, hoping someone with more knowledge of the sport will write more in depth. It was a wonderful showing for our gymnastics team and a great event to attend.

Also, Zamarippa won 1st overall and Anna Li scored a perfect 10 on the uneven bars.

Toronto's Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, who will be joining the UCLA Gymnastics team for the 2009 season, scored one of Canada's two individual berths at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Way to represent Elyse. Congrats and GO BRUINS.
