The Bruin men will compete in the NCAA Tournament for the 30th Consecutive Year. Big question is whether the NCAA Tournament Committee will grant them a top 4 seed. The most recent RPI has the Bruins at #5. The tournament bracket is scheduled to be announced tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned....
Congratulations to the Men's Soccer Team, winning 1-0 in second overtime period against Oregon State.
This Week -- No. 16/25 UCLA (5-3-1) will begin conference play this weekend, hosting California (3-2-2) on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 pm and Stanford (3-4-1) on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 pm. Both matches will be played at Drake Stadium. Remember UCLA was number 1 when the season started (IIRC) and was projected to easily with the Pac-12 conference. GO BRUINS.
IMHO - Tomorrow night's match vs. the Gaucho's may very well define the Bruin team's season. Either the team turns the corner on the season or limps into what appears to be a pretty weak PAC 12 conference this year. A conference title isn't a forgone conclusion if the team's performance thus far this year is any indicator. I was so mad witnessing the LMU match I bit my blogging tongue. But this author's assessment of the Bruin's play Sunday vs. LMU has me extremely worried as I saw pretty much the same thing. Hope to see a few (well...more than a few!!) of you out there tomorrow night. Rest assured, there will be a lot of "Loco's from Santa Barbara in attendance.
PDL Ventura Fusion qualifies for U.S. Open Cup. Andy Rose, Shawn Singh, Brian Rowe, Matt Wiet and Reed Williams are all rostered with the Fusion.
United States U-20 National Team coach Thomas Rongen selected the 24 players that will take part in this month's training camp and two friendlies against Canada and UCLA's own Kelyn Rowe is among them. It's always good to see Bruins don the Red, White and Blue and the call-up is most certainly deserved for the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.
UCLA men's soccer team defeated Dartmouth 2-1 in overtime. Bruins scored in first half and Dartmouth tied it in second half. Eder Arreola scored UCLA's two goals. They will play #1 seeded Louisville (18-0-3) at the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second consecutive year in Cardinal Park on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 pm ET. Women's Basketball team beat Temple 71-61 at Pauley.
After a scoreless first half, the Bruins scored 4 goals, before giving up a single goal to the Sac State. Chandler Hoffman started, then Reed Williams and Victor Chavez added one each. Hoffman kicked a second goal between the two. UCLA plays next Sunday (Nov. 28) against Dartmouth, a 2-1 winner over Notre Dame, same time, same place (5 pm at Drake Stadium). BTW Hoffman first ever player from Alabama.
