Bruins continue their home season opening series by taking on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the second game at JRS this afternoon.
UCLA continues their season opening series against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Jackie Robinson Stadium this afternoon. The first pitch is schedule for 2 pm PST.
Nick Vander Tuig will be on the mound this afternoon. As Ryan mentioned in his series preview the junior had a so so ERA (4.43) last year but he did manage to win 10 games for the Bruins last seasons. Opposite Vander Tuig for the Gophers will be Ben Meyer, who spent most of last season as a reliever. Meyer started just twice last year, but was very good out of the bullpen, compiling a 2.37 ERA and striking out four for every walk he issued. Should be interesting to see whether he can pitch deep into the game today.
If you are around LA - hope you get a chance to head out the game. If you are hanging around online you can follow the game via the official site's gametracker. You can also listen in with John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm, who will have the call online. You can also get all the game updates, notes, observations and all the other goodies from Ryan's UCLA baseball twitter. This is your open thread as the Bruins continue what will hopefully be their third run to Omaha in four years so have at it.
