Tonight is the first road game of the season for UCLA, who are in Waco this weekend for a three-game set against Baylor. The Bruins took care of business last weekend in taking two of three from Minnesota at home, but this weekend is a much bigger test.
Baylor is hardly a powerhouse this season after losing so many key pieces from last year's excellent team and they were swept in their season-opening series by UC Irvine, but they are still a solid Big 12 team and with that comes an opportunity for UCLA to pick up some valuable RPI wins. They are even more valuable because these games are on the road and the RPI gives bonuses for road wins this season so the Bruins have a lot to play for this weekend.
Adam Plutko is on the mound for UCLA tonight, fresh off of 6.2 innings of two-run ball a week ago in the season-opener. Max Garner gets the nod for Baylor after giving up three runs in four innings against the Anteaters last weekend.
The UCLA offense crushed Minnesota on Saturday and Sunday, but this is their first road series and a bunch of the hitters are being asked to take on a bigger role this season so tonight will be very interesting to watch. Can these kids take the next step and get the offense humming away from Westwood?
UCLA does not have their radio crew in Waco, but Baylor has you covered with online radio. You can also follow along on GameTracker and make sure to check out my UCLA baseball Twitter for all your coverage of the team.
