Matt Ryerson-US PRESSWIRE
The Bruins took the opener form Baylor on last night and can claim the series with a win today
UCLA wasn't at their best on Friday night. They let men on base, struggled to hit the ball and weren't especially sound defensively, but they did what good teams do -- they found a way to win. Thanks to some clutch pitching and an opportunistic offense, the Bruins took down Baylor 4-3 in Waco to win their first road game of the season and set them up for a chance to win the series today.
Nick Vander Tuig is on the bump for the Bruins today. He was very good last weekend, tossing six scoreless innings and striking out three without issuing a walk. He'll be opposed by Dillon Newman, who allowed three runs in 4.2 innings to UC Irvine in his first game of the season.
The Bruins are 3-1 on the young season and have a chance to pick up a big non-conference road series win today in Waco. You can listen in thanks to the Baylor broadcast team or follow along on GameTracker. As always, you can also get your game updates and everything else on the program on my UCLA baseball Twitter as well. This is your open thread so follow along, keep us updated and share whatever thoughts and opinons you have as the Bruins try to take the series. GO BRUINS!
