Bruins drive up the 101 to play their first mid-week game of the season against UCSB.
UCLA baseball is off to a good start this season by winning its first two series against Minnesota and Baylor. Bruins have done it mostly with decent pitching to date as the offense hasn't fully clicked except for two explosive outbursts against the Golden Gophers. Still at 4-2, Bruins are looking just all right and John Savage's number 12 ranked program will look to continue the momentum by playing its first mid-week game of the season against UCSB.
Bruins take on the Gauchos at UCSB's Caesar Uyesaka Stadium's this afternoon (first pitch scheduled for 2 pm PST). Freshman right-hander Cody Poteet will make his first collegiate start for the Bruins today. Poteet (0-1, 13.50, 3.1 IP) has made three appearances thus far in 2013, all of which came in relief, throwing a total of 3.1 innings. His best appearance came in a game against Minnesota when he threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to help UCLA put together a dominating 14-0 shutout over the Golden Gophers. UCSB will go with sophomore LHP Greg Mahle (0-0, 0.00, 1.0 IP).
Today's game will be broadcast online on the official site. John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm will have the call. You can also follow along on GameTracker. As always, you can also get your game updates and everything else on the program on Ryan's UCLA baseball Twitter as well. This is your open thread so have at it.
