UCLA vs. California Saturday Baseball Open Thread: Bruins Looking to Bounce Back

Bruce Thorson-US PRESSWIRE

The Bruins look to bounce back after losing it's first conference against the Bears at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Well I mentioned yesterday that I was worried about UCLA's offense heading into our first game against Cal. Looks like I was right to be concerned as the Bruins (15-4, 3-1) suffered their first conference lost against the Bears (14-8, 4-0) last night at JRS as they lost by a score of 5-1.

Bruins continue the series this afternoon with Nick Vander Tuig (3-2, 1.80). The junior is scheduled to take the mound while the Bears are going with senior left-hander Justin Jones (1-1, 4.62). Today would be a good day for the offense to break out and recapture the lost momentum..

If you're not out at the ballpark this evening listen in to John Ramey and Tim Welhelm or follow along with GameTracker. You can also get all of your game updates and observations, as well as all news, notes and links on Ryan's UCLA baseball Twitter. This is your open thread so chime in with updates and observations as the Bruins begin their run for another conference title.
