UCLA looked like they were in trouble after an empty first four innings on Friday night. They were down 2-0 and their offense hadn't showed signs of life, but then the Bruins busted out in a big way. They struck for seven runs in the fifth inning and led by Cody Regis' six RBI, cruised to a 10-2 win over Arizona in their series opener.
Today, the Bruins will go for the series win and Nick Vander Tuig will be the man charged with getting it done. It may be the junior's final start at Jackie Robinson Stadium and if he pitches the way he has all season, it will be a happy one for him. He is 8-3 with a 1.84 ERA on the year, and will be opposed by Konner Wade, who is 4-5 with a 4.22 ERA.
If you're not out at the ballpark this afternoon, listen in to John Ramey and Tim Welhelm or follow along with GameTracker. This is your open thread so chime in with updates and observations as the Bruins look to take the series.
