Bruin Bites - UCLA Basketball NCAA Ticket Information; Kyle Anderson Updates

Ethan Miller

Updated ticket information, and why the students may not show up in the droves we expected

We are only a few days away from our first round matchup against Tulsa in San Diego on Friday night, and tickets are being snapped up left and right.

Season ticket holders had until Sunday to request tickets and student Den pass holders had until Monday to request their tickets.  Student ticket requests are then put in a lottery and will the notified in the next couple of days.

However, what the official release from the site FAILS to tell students is that if UCLA advances to Sunday, they are AUTOMATICALLY charged for Sunday's game against VCU or SF Austin. The CTO speak:

By the way, student tickets are $80 PER session.  BruinCards are REQUIRED for pick up, so if you can only attend Friday and cannot attend Sunday, which is plausible with how close the San Diego site is, you're screwed, kids. We may see a lower than expected UCLA student turnout.  $160 is a lot of money to college students.

If you're interested in tickets, try the usual alternative means, and more tickets may be available on Thursday as schools return unsold tickets.  Which probably means Arizona will buy all of them.  Students, if you want tickets, and don't mind being surrounded by fans from SF Austin, try the other school's websites, such as VCU.

For those of you attending the game, parking is ONLY $10 (after years of gouging by Lakers parking lots for regular season games, this is an absolute steal) and available on campus at SDSU. Oh that's right, SDSU has a tournament worthy arena ON CAMPUS.

If you want to hang out with fellow Bruins before the game, attend Bruin Bash.  It will be at Bruin Bash Location: Bridges Bar and Grill-4800 Art Street, San Diego, CA 92115 from 4pm-6pm.  Adults are $40!!! and children 12 and under are $30.  You do receive unlimited food, 2 drink tickets so you can guzzle some Chianti beforehand, and transportation to the arena.

In other news, The OC Register had a nice piece about Kyle Anderson and his decision to return to UCLA for his sophomore season.

For those of you hoping Kyle would consider returning, his dad quickly shot that down:

Asked whether there’s any chance that Anderson returns for a third year at UCLA, the look he flashes back is enough of an answer already.

"No chance," Kyle Sr. says. "He’s done. There’s no changing now.

"This was always the plan."

Kyle will still be trying to prove he's as good as his statistics show, even if scouts do not believe in a 6'9" point guard.  Anderson cannot wait to get to the NBA and prove them all wrong.

"People are going to doubt me at the next level just like they did at this level," Anderson says. "Whatever I play, people are going to doubt me."

He pauses, flashing a grin. "Man, I’m looking forward to proving them wrong."

Happy Tuesday, everyone.  Remember to sign up for our bracket challenge.
