Southern Cal AD Pat Haden has placed Steve Sarkisian on an indefinite leave of absence after the coach showed up to practice this morning in "no condition to work", according to FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman.

Offensive Coordinator Clay Helton has been named as the interim head coach.

Helton previously served as the team's interim head coach for the 2013 Las Vegas Bowl after previous interim head coach Ed Orgeron quit because he was passed up for the head coaching job left open by Lane Kiffin's firing earlier that season.
After his drunken rant, Sarkisian said he was swearing off alcohol for the remainder of the season.
