With one UCLA golf team entering the final round, the final shot at NCAA championship glory, another UCLA golf squad will get underway in their first round in the NCAA championship tourney, hoping to bring home the 112th NCAA national championship trophy for the Bruins.
After three days and 54 holes of golf in NCAA championship tourney action, the Lady Bruins have taken sole control of fourth place at 867 (+27), just one stroke behind third-place Oklahoma (866, +26) and behind Southern Cal (862, +22) and current leaders Duke (856, +16). With the Blue Devils having a pretty solid lead, the Bruins will need to put up an excellent final round and hope for some help from Duke to seize control and grab UCLA's 112th NCAA national championship. UCLA gets underway with a 8:20 a.m. PST tee time in Tulsa. If you want to track how the tournament is unfolding, you can get live stats from Golfstat here.
As for their male counterparts, the #20-ranked Bruins will enter the men's NCAA national championship tourney beginning today in Hutchinson, Kansas. Not considered a serious contender, the Bruins will look to put together their best rounds of golf when it counts the most to pull off a shock and bring UCLA its 112th NCAA national championship. For more information on the team, you can check out a cheat-sheet created by Morgan Center (in PDF format - how antiquated!). The Bruins are set for an early morning tee time, so tune in early to track the Bruins as they look to get something going when it counts the most.
Let's hope our Bruins can pull out a miracle on the links today, because the only way #112 is going to be clinched today is through some divine intervention, some luck, and maybe a Blue Devil collapse.
