At this point, it's pretty clear that UCLA is leading the Pac-12 in this year's recruiting efforts. UCLA is putting together an amazing class with 23 commits that is currently ranked #6 on Scout, #9 on Rivals, and #10 on 247Sports. That said, the Pac-12 is recruiting well overall. Here's a quick snapshot of the other classes being put together.
Arizona
Commits - 26
Rank - Scout #23; Rivals #27; 247 #40
Arizona has put together a well rounded class, which includes 5 JC players. The Wildcats signed two quarterbacks, including 3* JC transfer Jesse Scroggins and 4* Anu Solomon to help replace Matt Scott, and have signed 4* RB Pierre Cormier and 4* CB Derek Babiash. Other players to keep an eye on are 3* ATH Samajie Grant and 3* JC ATH Prince Holloway, who may end up being a solid set of cornerbacks, and 3* DT Luca Bruna, whose father played at UCLA.
Arizona St.
Commits - 25
Rank - Scout #28; Rivals #29; 247 #34
Arizona St. has 9 JC commits, including 3* DT Marcus Hardison, and big WR's Jaelon Strong and Joseph Morris, who are both 6'4 200 lbs. The Sun Devils also have commits from 4* QB Joshua Dobbs, an athletic quarterback who will fit their system well, 4* ATH Chans Cox, who could play FB, TE, or LB at the next level, and twin brothers Viliami and Alani Latu, who are both 3* LB's. In addition to the above, Arizona St. is after current UCLA commit 4* Cameron Judge.
California
Commits - 25
Rank - Scout #29; Rivals #24; 247 #32
Cal has a very balanced class led by 4* QB Jared Goff, 3* RB Khalfani Muhammad, 4* OG Cameron Hunt, 3* OT's Erik Bunte and Aaron Cochran, 3* DE Takkarist McKinley, and 3* CB Darius Allensworth. With good coaching, McKinley may be the jewel of the class, assuming Cal can hold on to him. The class is not as impressive as what Tosh Lupoi used to bring in, but it is still solid.
Colorado
Commits - 15
Rank - Scout #69; Rivals #74; 247 #79
Colorado's class is not very impressive at this point, but they have some things going for them with 3* QB Sefo Liufau, 3* WR Devin Ross, and five offensive lineman. Four commits on the defensive side of the ball, however, could pose a major problem in future years.
Oregon
Commits - 14
Rank - Scout #23; Rivals #34; 247 #20
Oregon may not have a lot of commits, but those that they do have are very good for the most part. Mark Helfrich and his staff have some work to do in order to keep the class together, but in the end, Oregon will most likely keep them all. The class is led by 5* RB Thomas Tyner who will be firmly in the RB rotation next season. The Ducks also have commits from 4* twins LB Tyrell Robinson and WR Tyree Robinson, who Notre Dame and USC are chasing after, as well as 4* WR's Darren Carrington and Devon Allen, 4* RB Dontre Wilson, and 4* TE John Mundt. The class is light on the offensive line, especially with odd commit 2* Jake Pisarcik who had no other offers, but there are rumors that the Ducks are after current USC commit Nico Falah and current Cal commit Cameron Hunt.
Oregon St.
Commits - 20
Rank - Scout #42; Rivals #37; 247 #41
As usual, Oregon St.'s class may not stand out in the star department, but they have a lot of good commits, led by 4* CB Dashon Hunt, 3* OG Sean Harlow, 3* WR's Victor Bolden, and 3* Safeties Terin Solomon and Brandon Arnold. The Beavers also did very well in the JC route with 3* JC DT's Kyle Peko, Lyndon Tulimasealii, Edwin Delva and Siale Hautau, as well as 3* CB Steven Nelson. Peko and Nelson were both very highly sought after and should make an immediate impact.
Stanford
Commits - 12
Rank - Scout #49; Rivals #53; 247 #57
Stanford simply did not have much room for a big class this year after doing so well last year. The stars of the class are 4* LB's Peter Kalambayi and Kevin Palma, and 4* WR Francis Owusu. They also signed two tight ends, 3*'s Greg Taboada and Eric Cotton, who will both look to continue Stanford's tradition of excellent tight ends.
USC
Commits - 13
Rank - Scout #10; Rivals #7; 247 #4
With the sanctions for cheating, USC does not have many scholarships to give out. They have done a great job getting high caliber players to commit early, but they have been struggling to hang on to them of late. Offensively, 5* QB Max Browne, 5* RB's Justin Davis and Ty Isaac, 4* WR Steven Mitchell lead the way. They also have commits from 4* Nico Falah and 4* C Khaliel Rodgers, but there are pretty loud whispers that Falah is looking elsewhere and the Trojans will likely have to go the JC route for warm bodies for their offensive line. Defensively, 5* DT Kenny Bigelow, 5* S Sua Cravens, and 5* CB Jalen Ramsey headline the class, but whether Ramsey sticks to USC or not remains to be seen. They also have 4* commits in CB Chris Hawkins, LB Michael Hutchings, DE Torrodney Prevot, and S Leon McQuay.
Utah
Commits - 27
Rank - Scout #43; Rivals #33; 247 #48
Utah's big class includes 6 JC, of which 5 were from California. Perhaps Utah's biggest commit is 3* DT Lowell Lotulelei, the younger brother of Star Lotulelei. Other notables include 3* QB Brandon Cox, who will add a lot of athleticism to the position, and 3* CB's Marcellus Pippins and Dominique Hatfield. Overall, Utah has a very well rounded class, but Utah's recruiting is somewhat complicated due to the frequent LDS missions, and it is difficult to get a good read on their recruiting.
Washington
Commits - 21
Rank - Scout #11; Rivals #15; 247 #13
Other than UCLA, Washington has the deepest, most talented class this year. They've done well on the offensive side of the ball with 4* QB Troy Williams, 4* RB Lavon Coleman, and 4* WR's John Ross, Demorea Stringfellow, and Darrell Daniels, as well as defensively with 4* DT Elijah Qualls, 4* DE's Daeshon Hall and Joe Mathis, and 4* Jermaine Kelly. The biggest difference between the Huskies and the Bruins, however, is that Washington is lacking in the offensive line. They do have a commit from 3* Dane Crane, who will likely become a big time player in the Pac-12, as well as 3* G Andrew Kirkland, but they would do very well for themselves if they can flip 4* OT Nico Falah from USC.
Washington St.
Commits - 24
Rank - Scout #47; Rivals #44; 247 #50
Washington St.'s class may lack star rankings, but it is very balanced and should mesh very well with last year's class. Mike Leach was never known as a big recruiter at Texas Tech, and recruiting is never easy in Pullman, but the Cougars have some very nice commits in 4* QB Tyler Bruggman, 3* CB Daquan Brown, 3* RB Gerald Wicks, and 3* Paulo Lepua. The Cougars did have commits from three JC players, including 3* WR Vince Mayle who brings great size to the position at 6'3 220 lbs., and 3* DE Lyman Faoliu who will contribute early.
