Tuesday morning round up (Dorrell to the NFL?)

Time to focus on Arizona. Of course on paper we should beat the crap out of them.  A program like Arizona simply doesn't belong on the same plain with UCLA.  But this is going to be a tough game because at this point beating us is going to make their pathetic season. Dorrell talked about this phenomenon yesterday at the press conference :

For the first time in the careers of many Bruins, opponents view a contest against UCLA as a chance to make a national statement. It's aby-product of UCLA being ranked seventh in the nation, and being one of five undefeated teams in Division I-A.

"At this point in the season, you're 8-0 and you're ranked in the top 10, with teams (giving) their best effort to knock you off," Dorrell said. "That's part of the equation as well, so let's not underestimate that. I've been in that position before, the last two years, trying to knock off a team perceived better than we are. So you're getting everyone's best effort, and we have to play with our best effort."
That is true, but still there is simply no excuse for our poor starts and KD seems to understand that:
"We're just not getting it done," Dorrell said. "We need to do a better job of preparing our players to do what they need to do in the early portions of the game. It's nothing more than that. It's just us not getting it done, and we'll get it done."
Saturday against Arizona would be a good time to start coach.

UCLA moved up to No. 5 in the latest BCS rankings.  And gotta say I like KD's take on BCS:
"Given the nature of our last game, the BCS rankings are the least of our worries," UCLA Coach Karl Dorrell said of his team's close call against Stanford.
AFreakingMen.  Leave it to us to worry about the BCS for now coach- just get the team ready for the Mildcats this Saturday. By the way, speaking of Dorrell, a reader of ours tipped us off to this article by Len Pasquarelli of ESPN, which contained this interesting tidbit on Karl Dorrell (top of the third sidebar):
He might be a bit too young (42) and inexperienced (third season), but Karl Dorrell of UCLA is starting to garner the curiosity of a few teams who likely will be making head coaching changes after this season. At least two teams have begun doing background homework on Dorrell, a former Denver Broncos assistant coach, but Dorrell is a guy most teams admittedly know very little about. One team is fairly deep into the homework phase.
Well than! In that case you know who I would like to have?! BUTCH FREAKING DAVIS! Can you even imagine Coach Davis taking over the National Champions UCLA Bruins?! lol.

Anyways, back to reality. Elsewhere, Lonnie White's report has look into our latest clutch receiver Joe Cowan.  Now, if any of you out there who are reading this and have a picture of Joe Cowan's pornstache, email it to us at bruinsnation@hotmail.com  We'd like to contribute to the EDSBS tradition of Mustache Wednesday! Lastly, speaking of individual accolades, if you haven't done it yet, make sure vote for our 2LIVEDREWs at www.voteforheisman.com. Vote early and vote often.

GO BRUINS.
