Sounds like a pretty cool event:
On Saturday September 24, 2005, we will be viewing video of the great Wooden-Era UCLA teams. We're taking reservations and would like all of you who can to come and relive the glorious past of UCLA Basketball.
We have both TV Broadcasts and silent film in our archives. I have offered my own home as the gathering place. I live in the Pasadena area so it'd be just like coming to the Rose Bowl. On the date of our viewing party, the UCLA Bruins football team has the weekend off, so what else do you have to do?
In honor of Coach John Wooden, our gathering will be called "Woodenstock". We did this once before in the Spring and those who were there will testify to how enjoyable the experience was. If you are interested in attending or participating in any way, please reply to this thread or email me at: mrnewguy@poetworld.net.
So far, I have reservations from Northern California, Nevada, and even North Carolina!--as well as several passionate fans from right here in the L.A. area. Some of you will remember the great teams of the Wooden years. Others of you aren't old enough to have seen and may want to see "what all the fuss is about".
There are no requirements other than being a fan of the Bruins and Coach John Wooden. I hope to see YOU here with the rest of us. Come On! You've got MONTHS to plan!!!
This is great for the BruinsNation. Again, if you are attending these events, and have pics, send them to us - we will be glad to post them here. I can't imagine the nostalgia alums feel about those glory days. I know I still fire up my 1995 season highlights video, the week before the start of every hoops season. The highlight reels of Ed O kissing the court, or throwing that bounce pass to Toby in the final game for a reverse dunk (not to mention the "4.8 seconds" against MO) - still give me the goosebumps. They always will. Anyways, Woodenstock II, on September 24 sounds like a lot of fun.
