Scrimmage reports rolling in now - YOWZA! It's UGLY

Reports on today's scrimmage reports are rolling in the message boards one by one, and its not a pretty picture.  Kevin Brown, one of our best DL went down with a high ankle sprain and will be out for 6-8 weeks.  Not good for a unit which gave up most rushing yards in the Pac-10 last season.

As for the offense, the reports are not very encouraging.  It sounds like the same old shit.  From PaliBruin:

The offensive pay calling was pure vanilla as it always is for these "fan day" scrimmages. Run up the gut, throw a few post paterns yada, yada, yada. I've seen 100x more offense in daily practice but with the whole world watching, the coaches aren't going to show you anything.
LOL. Pali is one those supporters of status quo. Yes, of course we waited all of last year for coaches to "show us" something besides the radical fake punting strategy KD unveiled in the SUC game. Coaches will show us something. Yes, I am holding my breath for 12-13 Horrell Dorrell to show me something this season.

More on the offense from one of KD's most severe critics, MANTIS9:
[T]he scrimmage was like kissing your brother...as boring as a Dorrell motivation speech. Drew Olson is still hopelessly mediocre, his first few passes typically taking off like piss in the wind...Ben Olson's first completion, a gorgeous cruise missle spiral into a screening Pitre was the best pass of that type seen around here in 8 years.

BO also found Marcedes twice for tds, DO is still looking for him after 3 years...In these odd games, you can't tell if a play is made because the defense is so bad or the offense is actually good. Neither did much to knock your socks off.

Watch out in the punting game--Perez is SLOW getting the ball off..look for him to become block fodder when they come at him at real speed...and his kicks are all over the place, only one really sailing with hang time authority (this was a 5 star recruit?)Medlock hit a 49 yarder FG, but his kick-offs fell far short of the goal-line--what gives?

London made some good sticks..Joe Cowan looked stronger (I believe that was he who made a TD out of a bad pass that was tipped (from DO) ..Kevin Brown going down a MAJOR BUMMER...there's nobody else like him...

sat there marveling how little a dent 640 pounds of 6'7" Cleary and 6'9" Blanton seems to make at the line of scrimmage..or is the defense that good-----nah....this should have been a coming out party for Derrick Williams, who instead was under indefinite suspension, and the receivers in general seem to be in receivership...(like bankrupt)
Doesn't sounds good at all folks.  Some folks are so discouraged after the scrimmage that they are outright questioning some of the practice reports from certain paid message boards as "phony"!
The same old crap.. To suggest that DO is a "poised" QB is nonsense. BO has more talent than DO in his little finger. It was a relief to see the team in person and realize all the optomistic garbage sprouted by people who wouldnt know football if it hit them in the ass, There are no game-breaking wrs, Markey is better than drew, and the OL is (spacing fixed, Ed.) still terrible Overall the effect was this team is worse than the last 2 years. Forget all the 8 wins prediction--utter nonsense.
Pre-season glowing practice reports PHONY!  We are shocked.  YOWZA!!! We are schocked!!! Ok ... calling Markey better than Drew is probably a little too much.  We won't do that.  But it certainly sounds lot of the glowing practice reports we were reading during last two weeks, lot of that pre-season good vibes mambo-jambo, were pretty much same old shit (sos).  And Blindos will be using the Brown injury just another excuse.

As we have said over and over here before ... WE ARE NOT IN THE MOOD FOR ANY EXCUSES FROM DORRELL ... HE HAS TO WIN 9 GAMES (INCLUDING ENDING THE STREAK AGAINST USC).  IF DORRELL CANNOT PRODUCE A 9 WIN SEASON THIS YEAR, HE NEEDS TO GET OUT OF WESTWOOD.  NO EXCUSES.

GO BRUINS.
