Morning News Roundup

It's not official yet, but per the OC Register there is really no question after BO's injury, DO will get the starting nod against the Aztecs:

Ben Olson did not practice Wednesday. He stood behind the other UCLA quarterbacks during drills with his left hand wrapped, his arm in a sling for a brief while but elevated at all times.

He called the injury a "minor glitch."

But the competition to start the Sept.3 opener at San Diego State went on without him as a duel of one - senior Drew Olson.

Coach Karl Dorrell did not commit to Drew Olson after the practice as the Bruins' starter, though he obviously is the only contender moving forward at this point.
We are hoping the BO heals completely ... very soon.  We are going to need him, given what we have gotten last two years.

Other news, Bruce Davis is digging his new spot at the LB postiton, so reports the Daily News, but he calls his first two years at UCLA a waste? Here is Dohn:
Now he is thrilled to be playing linebacker - he says senior linebackers Spencer Havner and Justin London have made his transition easy. But as Davis readies to start at outside linebacker when the Bruins open their season Sept. 3 at San Diego State, does he wonder if he wasted his first two years?

"A big part of me does, actually," Davis said. "I feel like I'd be more comfortable. There's still some things out there that I'll catch as I go, but if I could have had it the way I wanted it, I would have come in as a linebacker.
Well Bruce is not alone.  Lot of members of the BruinsNation feel like the last two years of UCLA football have been kind of ... you know ... a waste.

Lastly, you know we are big fans of Mike Leach, the head coach (with strong Southern California roots) of the Texas Tech Red Raiders.  Well check this out ... here is just one reason, why Coach Leach would want to come back to the Southland, getting away from the freaks of the Lone Star state.  Yes this is from a Texas Tech football game in Lubbock, Texas:

HT to those crazy kids from EDSBS.
