Guys I have couple of notes on two new gadgets on BN and then a request to all of you in helping to spread the views of the BruinsNation all over the internets. Considering all the shenanigans we saw last week coming from the Wetzel hit piece on Coach Wooden, I think it is more important than ever to do everything we can as the Bruin online community to inject our views/information out in the world of traditional media. Basically we are going to explore every single opportunity available to spread our message on the world of college football, basketball from the perspective of the Bruin alums, students and fans.
First, you may or may not have noticed a bar titled "Blogburst" on the right hand panel of the blog. Blogburst is essentially a newswire and syndication network for blogs. Its only an invite-only basis networked system, and the service is already distributing high quality, topically-focused blog content to major online destinations. BB currently has several major brand publishers as customers including Gannett (owner of USAToday and 100 other local newspapers), Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Houston Chronicle, San Antonio-Express News and many others. Our content will be displayed and fully attributed with multiple links on these top-tier destinations. So any time Lavin goes out on DSPN and makes an asinine commentary on UCLA schedule, a well written counter argument on BN may just be picked up via BB and injected into one of the papers mentiond above getting us national exposure. Could be very interesting (specially if we end up having a tumultously mediocre football season with no win against USC). We will see how it all turns out.
Second, as I mentioned over the weekend we have added new Bruns Newsfeed feature available on the left hand side of the column, which provides news feed to all Bruin related news filtered through a service called SportSpyder.
And here is our request ... if you have been enjoying and appreciating the site, we would like to ask that you help us grow by taking a simple action. We would like to be included in Google News. So please click on this link and recommend BN to the Google News editors. It will take you less than 30 seconds. Again as mentioned above, judging from all the bruhahaha we saw last week coming from the Wetzel's hit piece on Wooden, I think it is more important than ever to do everything we can as the Bruin online community to inject our views/information out in the world of traditional media. And this is a fairly simple way to do it. So if you get a chance today, please click on this link and recommend BN to the Google News guys.
