A great team win for Ben Ball warriors. UCLA beats Oregon 69-57, handing the Ducks only their second road loss of their magical season (their first with Aaron Brooks). Bruins are now 19-2, sitting atop the Pac-10 with an 8-2 record. Ducks are right behind at 19-3 (7-3).
Here is the box score and recap. Bruins raced off to a huge lead, and eventually pushed the lead up to 19 points in second half, before the Ducks made a run, and cut it down to around 9 points with few mins left. But this time AA and co. kicked in the classic Howland lockdown defense and took care of business.
UCLA's Arron led all scorers with points. It was Luc though who had a monster game with 15 points and 12 rebounds. He played like a Prince. Earlier in the week Coach Howland mentioned how Luc needs to stay out of foul trouble and temper his aggression. Looks like Luc was paying close attention to his head coach.
Mata and Aboya played their roles in helping Luc and UCLA dominate Oregon in the paint. Meanwhile, AA, DC, and the UCLA guards played a great defensive game around the parameter, holding the leading candidate for Pac-10's MVP award to just 14 points tonight.
All in all a great effort by Bruins. Now they have to put this game behind them and get ready for Oregon State. It's a marathon. A fun one.
Let's hope our boys can play like they did tonight through rest of the season. This is the kind of team-effort that will take us to the promise land. We just need to keep at it. We will have lot more tomorrow.
Fire away in the post game thread.
GO BRUINS.
