Troy Burning Continues ...

This time it was the baseball team's turn to continue beating up the dirty athletic institution from cross town:

Right-hander Tyson Brummett (6-4) threw his fourth complete game of the season to lead the UCLA baseball team past crosstown rival USC, 5-2, Friday evening at Dedeaux Field. Brummett pitched his second complete game in as many career appearances against the Trojans, allowing just two runs off seven hits.

UCLA (16-16, 6-1 Pac-10) has won eight of its last 10 contests and has won three consecutive games against USC (19-16, 2-5 Pac-10), dating back to last season's series victory. The Bruins were led offensively by catcher Ryan Babineau (2-for-3) and designated hitter Cody Decker, who finished 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, his team-leading seventh round-tripper of the season. Brummett struck out four hitters and issued three walks, raising his season strikeout total to 67.

USC right-hander Brad Boxberger (2-3) allowed five runs off five hits in six innings and struck out five while issuing four walks. Designated hitter J.J. Owen led the Trojans at the plate, hitting 2-for-4.
The boys are back in action against the Trojies this afternoon at Dedeaux Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 pm, and the game is going to be on TV, live on Fox Sports Net Prime Ticket.
