Bruin Ace

Brumlett pitches his sixth complete game of the season to run his record to 8-4. While Dorrell's offense was stinking it up at Spalding, Savage's young team BLASTED no. 12 Arizona Wilcats by a score of 9-3:

UCLA right-hander Tyson Brummett (8-4) allowed three runs (two earned) off five hits to lead No. 18 UCLA past No. 12 Arizona, 9-3, Friday evening at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The senior from Salem, Utah, recorded his fifth win in his last five starts, striking out six batters in the complete-game effort. Brummett has recorded a complete game victory in each of his last three starts.

Bruin third baseman Jermaine Curtis continued his hot hitting as he registered a 3-for-5 effort with two runs and a career-high four RBI. Catcher Ryan Babineau finished 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs just three days after totaling a 3-for-3 performance at UC Riverside. Both Justin Uribe and Will Penniall hit 2-for-4 against the visiting Wildcats (31-10, 9-4 Pac-10).

UCLA (23-17, 9-1 Pac-10) remained in first place in the Pac-10 with the 9-3 victory. The Bruins' 10-game conference stretch has been the program's most successful such span since UCLA finished its conference slate with a 10-0 mark in 1924. UCLA has won 15 of its last 18 games and has tallied victories in eight of its last nine contests.
Bruins are back in action today as they look to clinch yet another Pac-10 series. First pitch will be underway at Jackie Robinson Stadium sometime in next 15 minutes. You can follow the game online via the official site.
