After more than four years the former "NFL WR Coach" finally gets a commitment from a big, tall, and athletic receiver:
UCLA added another non-binding oral commitment Monday to its nearly full 2008 recruiting class with El Camino High of Oceanside wide receiver Nelson Rosario.
Rosario made his pledge soon after word got out that USC was showing him interest. The Trojans had yet to make an offer. He also considered Oregon, Arizona State and Stanford.
"It seemed like they were recruiting me the hardest," Rosario said of UCLA. "I almost committed a few times in the past and thought it was time to make it official. It's a program on the rise, and it just seemed like they really wanted me."
Rosario is the fourth receiver and 22nd player overall to commit to the Bruins for the class of 2008.
Rosario, who is 6-foot-5 and 202 pounds, runs the 40-yard dash in a reported 4.43 seconds. He had 53 receptions for 1,010 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.
"I'm faster than a lot of people, have the strength to get off the line plus I've got the height to get jump balls," Rosario said.
Rosario is rated as the No. 39 player in the state by rivals.com. He joins Kemonte Bateman of Crenshaw, Jerry Johnson of Venice and Antwon Moutra of Culver City as receivers to commit to the Bruins.
