Finally, the #6 Bruins get to start Pac-10 play. Their perfect 21-0 record will be tested against a good, 26th ranked Stanford team in game one of a three-game set at Jackie Robinson Stadium tonight. Stanford got their conference schedule underway last week when they beats USC two of three, while Arizona took two of three from Oregon and Arizona St. swept Cal. Today, all ten teams in the conference will partake in league play.
For the Bruins, it will Gerrit Cole toeing the rubber in the series opener. Cole enters the weekend with a 6-0 record, 2.63 ERA, 13.37 strikeouts per nine innings (sixth best in the country) and .167 batting average against (also sixth best in the country). He did have issues last week, walking five and throwing three wild pitches in a single inning, but as Coach Savage mentioned, Cole ironed things out in bullpen sessions on Sunday and Monday. Stanford has yet to announce a starter for tonight's game.
Tonight's game will get underway at 6 pm PST and like all home games, there are three ways to follow along. The most informative and detailed is the online audio call with John Ramey, Danny Rees and Nick Theodorou. You can also follow along on GameTracker and on my UCLA baseball twitter, like always. There are plenty of options to follow along with our undefeated Bruins so follow along and check in on this thread with your game updates, thoughts, questions, opinions or whatever else you've got. It's game time, it's your game thread.
